Walking through Portcullis House this lunchtime I was accosted by Colin Brown of The Independent who asked me if I had seen what his illustrious organ had written about my Blog this morning. I do actually take The Independent on Mondays, despite its irritating front pages, because it has an excellent media section, but I hadn't got around to reading it yet. He assured me it was complimentary, and indeed it is! They have done a feature on their Top 15 blogs, not all of which are political. So to be mentioned in the same breath as Arianna Huffington and Andrew Sullivan is praise indeed. I'll scate over their mention of MyBoyfriendIsATwat.com... They describe my CV as 'eclectic' and say that...
..."it makes for a fun, politically oriented blog that's as happy to tackle the inconsistencies of the Blair government as it is the recklessness of a Marlon harewood tackle. Dale's also no stranger to a podcast, making him something of a favourite among fellow iPod addicts."
So it's been a good few days for this Blog. Last week I got the highest number of hits ever in one week (amazing, considering there were no LibDem scandals!) and I learnt that my Podcast gets more downloads than Ed Vaizey's or Jo Swinson. So I can swan off to the States on Wednesday feeling happy. Ain't life great?
The feature can be read HERE - but you'd better be quick before they put it on subscription.
Nice one Iain - a king among bloggers (and podcasters too)
Congratulations and well deserved.
But why no mention of Guido in the Indy?
Thank you LibDem member! And it's not often I have the chance to say that! In my view Guido is in a class of his own and should be included in any Top British Blogs list.
Isnt it about time the political bloggers and podcasters had an annual blogs award??? (Or does this happen now?)
Indy's media section actually quotes Guido on Rupert Murdoch.
It fair made my heart swell as an early Iain Dale's Diary adopter.
Shame it wasn't the guinea pig photo accompanying though. That would have just been the icing on the cake.
>So to be mentioned in the same breath as Arianna Huffington and Andrew Sullivan is praise indeed.
I'd like to read your argument in suport of that - I truly would.
Chris - they get hundreds of thousands of hits a month. Simple as that!
Many congrats, Iain, and well deserved.
