Today's Pot & Kettle Award Goes to David Mellor

If there's one person in this country who I don't want to hear from on football related matters it's David Mellor. Today he enlightens Sun readers with his take on the news that Sven is about to pen his memoirs. "It's a disgrace. He's a mercenary," trolls the Mellorphant. This would be the same David Mellor who trousered a six figure advance for his memoirs from Penguin a few years ago, and then had to pay it all back when he failed to deliver a manuscript. As David Blunkett might say, "a period of silence" might be welcome on this and many other matters from Mr M.

I sense an east versus west sentiment here! ;)

Can't think what you mean. Up the Hammers!

At least Mellor supports a great football team unlike some people Iain!

Has anyone, ever, said anything positive about Mellor? He must be one of the most disliked people in politics. Wonder why....

And Andrew's right - you choose a team (or more likely have it chosen for you by a relative), to which you should have a geographic or family link and stick with it. The only possible exceptions are if your club disappears or is rolled over by the owners, a la Wimbledon.

What a short memory Mr Mellor must possess Iain when he bands around the word disgrace!!
Is this not the same man who used his family as a prop during a press conference to display his honesty and family values, after being splashed over the red tops with his lover in a chelsea shirt!! Some of us have long memories and will not easily forget the damage he did to our party, during the now infamous: back to basics!!
How he ever became a celebrity football pundit is a sad indictment on this countries fame culture!!

So that would make all the other greats of sport who retired and wrote memoires "mercenaries" too, would it?

Mellor remainsificant blot on the reputation of the Conservative Party. The sooner he learns to shut up the better IMO.
