One Rule for One...

Nadine is not pleased. It turns out that LibDem MP Mark Oaten demanded a £3,600 fee for appearing in the Tower Block of Commons programme on Channel 4, where four MPs lived for a week on some fairly rough council estates. Nadine, Tim Loughton and Austin Mitchell never asked for a fee and didn't receive one.

Nadine and Tim Loughton have now written to the programme's producers asking for a £3,600 fee which they will donate to charities on the council estates they lived on and in their own constituencies.

Good on them.

Well done Nadine Dorries and Tim Houghton for saying they will give the fee to charity.

What was Mark Oaten thinking?

Thats spoilt the whole thing for me, as I though Oaten came across best in the series - but now I hope he regains the brownie points he's just lost by announcing he gave it to charity in the first place. Unlikely, I know, but hey, I'm feeling generous today.......

Mark Oaten may have given it to charity, quietly, and without any fuss, but the others should also have had the same opportunity.

If Mark Oaten has pocketed the fee, then once again the reputation of MPs goes down even further than it has already. Well done to Nadine and Tim though. They have done the right thing.

So, just because Nadine did't think beforehand to ask for a fee, she has to copy someone else?

"We've got no policies, lets copy others."

The producers are under no obligation to respond to her petty blackmail.

I can think of a great many replies to Oaten's behaviour. Sadly, none of them would make it past moderation.

Yes, well done them! What a nasty item Oaten is!

But that's the weird thing about many Liberal Democrats. They are not really very liberal or all that democratic.

Scroaten asking for money? Am I surprised? No. He is LibDem.

Still, Iain, it is never good PR to remind anyone about TBoC, after Mad Nad disgracefully donned Hijab like a good little Dhimmi.

If the producers want to give the money to charity then so be it. I'm not sure all of the fee would make it to charity.

All the MPs seemed odd in that programme particularly Madame Dorries - maybe it was just the way it was edited and she is nicer in real lfe.
