The biggest drop this month - in fact ever on this index - is Caroline Spelman, who plummeted 29 places down to 47. Nigel Farage, after his performance on Question Time is the biggest climber, rising 15 places.

She is far more prominent in the public eye than many official Tory shadows.

I've just been invited to take my 6th formers to a debate with DC. The topic – “freedom and liberty”. 24 hours notice given. Why the rush? I can only speculate, but the venue is a school in the Haltemprice and Howden constituency. Maybe it's to do with a by-election next week. Cynical, me?

There is indeed a Mr Spelman. Mark Spelman is very wealthy and has ambitions to become even more so by jumping on the EU gravy train. He has aspirations to become an MEP and has been chosen as one of the Conservative candidates for next year's European Parliamentary elections.
