The full results will be published in the Guide to Political Blogging in the UK 2008-9 which is published on 5 September and will be available at all the party conferences. You can now also pre-order it via the Total Politics website for £12 inc p&p. You will receive it in mid September.

Seems to me that you had a bit of a demographic-advantage, given that the people voting were essentially your readers.

Daily Referendum said...

Bugger, I droppped four places. Maybe I should have voted for myself?

Morus said...

Top six are unsurprising (if not the order of them!) as all are excellent in their own ways, but personal highlights for me are seeing the ever-excellent Archbishop Cranmer at 12, Letters from a Tory at 21, James Cleverly in at 38 and Iain Lindley, Prodicus and the Right Student making the top 100 too.

COMING TOMORROW: THE FINAL LIST!
THE TOP 100 UK POLITICAL BLOGS

That's not fair! You have done right and left of center blogs - where is the centrist, bang in the middle, bullseye blog list?

And before Toque or Britology beat me to it - you have done top Welsh and Scottish blogs - who are the top English blogs?

Anonymous said...

Blogs, schmogs! What I'm still waiting for is the list of the Top 20 Political Traitors. It's been months. Come on, Iain, pull yer finger out.

Dropped 90 - 93, I am bereft, or should I just be happy to still be in the top 100?

Mark Wadsworth said...

Thanks!

Iain Dale said...

Andrew F, I can see why you say that, but it's not true. 79 other blogs urged their readers to vote. I wouldn't deny that a lot of my readers did too, but the proportion is far lower than last year, although I accept there is no way of proving it. Anyway, it's just a bit of fun!

Cranmer said...

His Grace is disappointed to have slipped from No6, and out of the Top 10 altogether.

Perhaps he did not bribe a sufficient number of voters with promises of pornography.

He is prayerfully considering his future.

Raedwald said...

Whoooeee! Fame!

Good to see my favourite reads all there too

Many thanks Iain

Blue Eyes said...

These lists seem more interesting now I am on one!

Man in a Shed said...

Thanks Iain - this is always a bit of fun. I'm looking forward to reading some blogs I haven't visited for a while or come across before.

Mike Rouse said...

Pleased to have made it to 61 considering I re-launched after the voting began and haven't been pushing myself. Next year, however, I hope to make at least the top 20.

Whilst my appetite for these lists is more limited than Iain's appears to be, could he/you keep a link to these lists permanently in an obvious part of your archive? I am not going to try them all out in any short time frame but it would be useful to come back to them. Thanks

Trixy said...

Thanks for all your hard work, Iain. 33: not bad. Huge climb from last year. Have my suspicions why.

Charlotte Corday said...

Are you going to do a top ten list of people who leave comments on blogs?

Just thought I'd ask.

Newmania said...

Odd , I seem to get a lot more attention than many of these and yet I do not figure at all.

What happened ? Sniffle

Neil Reddin said...

Number 66! Top ten 2009 here I come!

Phew, now I've made it I can cancel all those yahoo mail accounts I set up.

Cranmer said...

Mr Newmania,

You manifestly failed to offer sufficient naked breasts to induce your readers to vote for you.

It would be more scientifically objective to arrive at a 'top' list through proving the number of unique visitors it receives or through its Technorati ranking.

Mr Dale's motives are honourable, and, for many, including the bloggers, it clearly is 'a bit of fun'. But these lists are published and disseminated far and wide. They clearly become authoritative for many others, and errors, omissions, or biases are set aside.

Ian_QT said...

@newmania: You are #65.

Lord James Bigglesworth said...

Gee whiz - can't believe NO still hung in there after the annus horribilis.

Some great additions as well on that list.

Tory Bear said...

Cheers everyone...

well chuffed!

Bill Quango MP said...

Newmania. Its that MAN WITH NO NAME avatar thats confusing everyone.

Mark Wadsworth said...

Charlotte Corday (@ 10.42) makes a good point.

I nominate Umbongo, Dearieme and the queen of them all, Woman On A Raft.

hatfield girl said...

You are higher than Angels, Newmania, and quite right too.

PS Charlotte's suggestion for a commenters section must include Stanislaw.
Commenters could be considered eligible regardless of having a blog of their own, too.

Angels in Marble

Old Holborn said...

Next year I will RULE the world.

Free biscuits over at my place to celebrate. No riff raff or casual shoes.

Tonight, we MAKE LOVE!

Newmania said...

Aha .....65th eh ..get in there!Envy for those above me gnaws my innards and vile arrogant contempt for those below eats at my soul.

Perfick

(Nice to see Raedwald get some appreciation )

Stephen Glenn said...

Darn doing the maths there are 89 English blogs in the top 100, 10 Scottish blogs ahead of me and 2 Welsh Lib Dems ahead of me on the Lib Dem list. Guess I'll be watching just how close I get by comparisons.

Lord James Bigglesworth said...

So where's the final list, Iain? :)

Iain Dale said...

What do the words COMING TOMORROW signal to you?

UBERMOUTH said...

well, I am pleased to see that you didn't include that online predator, Crushedbyingsoc ,on your list.
