Conference Video Report: Day Three
Here's my report from Day 3 of the Tory Conference. Click HERE to watch it. Do watch the last section where I talk to Jeremy Paxma about his thoughts on what David Cameron will say tomorrow. Vintage Jezza.
The human face of Paxo! Nice one.
Have you edited the Paxman interview? :)
here is what david cameron might say..
the fourth way
Even Paxman comes over as human talking to you Iain. You see you do not come over as threatening and people will be more open with you.
I just wish instead of increasing the price of things that effects all of us. They deal with the people that cause the problem. Why should we all suffer for those people.Zero tollerence on the streets to roudy behavour is what needs to happen. Put Mr Gove in charge of it.
Good grief. Forget about Jeremy Paxman, these people's instincts are as authoritarian, nasty and poorly thought out as New Labour's. Who could possibly vote for David Liddington & Co?
I am old enough to remember seeing an uncle and aunt off from that building when it was a railway station (on a steam train, no less).
I saw behind you that Tameside Council had dragged their display to the conference. It was at Labour's do in Brighton too, and Paxo picked up on it.
Would you care to ask them wtf they are doing with their ratepayers' money.
I was thinking over the past 3 weeks that Paxo was past it on TV. He seems desperate to retain his bullish image for the sake of it.
If he came across on NewsNight as well as he does here, I might start watching NewsNight again.
Looking at the people in the background they come accross as the stereotype - Tory boys and the elite out to play. Very white. But then I suppose you could say that about all the party conferences. Interesting video.
I get a bit fed up with Paxman's incessant rudeness, to politicians of all parties, so it's nice to see that the ferocious attack dog harbours an inner human being!
Jeremy Paxman! A legend!
Does anyone know if the other famous Jeremy - Clarkson - was there too?
I hope Cameron will have a positive speech today that will send out the right message to the country.
"Lore and Order" ??
Great stuff !!Well done on buttonholing [oo, er missus..] Paxo
Nicely done, Iain. Unobtrusive whilst revealing. That's the way to do it.
And it'll have done you no harm, either.
"Tickle the Tories' erogenous zones"? Good grief! You wouldn't hear that on the BBC...
Iain, the Guardian today contains a pull-out supplement essentially on "why the Tories are vile". Fortunately, it says more about the authors than it does about the Tories.
It is probably worth picking up a copy, if only for entertainment value...
Paxman has a "brand" to protect.
If he reverted to human form, what would set him apart from dozens of other perfectly civilised journos ?
(and what would justify that £1M/a salary ?)
Good interview with Paxo, Ian, but one thing that left a poor taste in the mouth is this insistance from these politics on this quasi-populist authoritarian nonsense of increasing the taxes on any consumer product for all of us because a small section of what's left with the disjointed sections of our society are incapable of behaving like normal, decent people.
Just throw the f*****s in jail and be done with it. Plenty of laws out there to book them under.
It's another of case of "being seen to be doing something" and is as vile as the policies that ooze out of the liebour camp of malevolence.
Since the Sun announced that it was backing the Tories, the Times has turned noticeably cooler on Cameron.
Have Mandelson and Murdoch made some dodgy deal ?
Re: Paxo's comment that someone once said that voters want Chancellors to be either bookies or undertakers. Iain couldn't remember the source of the quote. A quick search on Google shows the only site to carry the three key words is....er.....Iain Dale's blog: http://iaindale.blogspot.com/2007/02/read-his-lips.html
I stand prepared to be corrected though...
Not for the first time he does like to self promote himself does our iain.
Good series of interviews. The lady wants hope. So does Paxman.
But their faces say they don't expect much.
I have a cure for this malaise - a new policy to bring Britain back together and to move her forwards.
The Conservatives should drop referenda on EU Treaties which will not resolve the issue...and offer instead something else - a referendum on Proportional Representation.
The lady says people feel not included. She's right. 50% don't vote. 15% vote for minor parties. FPTP is failing.
PR will enable a coalition of the Conservatives, UKIP and others to hold power, tackle the EU head on, and bring local democracy to fruition.
Cameron, this is the way to go.
Didn't recognize Guido with a shirt & jacket on.
Iain who are the two miserable women trying to lose votesd being interviewed pre speech by the Daily Politics show?
Did you ask him how much he earned?
In the years he has been on 5live, has Labour shill Kevin Maguire ever made a single objective comment about the Conservatives? I am sick of his bias and I am writing to complain. Pointless I know, but I will be pointing out to his "handlers" (ie., their producers), that what goes around comes around.
Why didn't ask paxo how much he gets paid? Note that I didn't use the word "earns".
The Brussels Broadcasting Corporation are surpassing themselves in their biased anti-Conservative, Pro-McLabour Regime coverage on Question time and Newsnight.
I wonder on what level they get their orders from McDooning Street?, is there a hotline?.
Urrghh, this video made me sick to my stomach. Why on Earth are the Tories intent on following Labour's Policy of aurhoritarian diktat on personal freedoms when it is this aspect of Labour (possibly even moreso than illegal wars or destroying the economy) that has led to their current unelectable status? On one hand the Tories say they will stop treating adults like children, on the other they come out with ill-thought out nonsense like this. It is this copying of the worst aspects of Labour that I am sure is why so many people, despite having suffered the worst government in centuries, are still undecided on the Tories. They want change - change in Policy and attitude, not a change in rosette.
I thought that Paxman interview was painful. Repeating "Answer the question! Answer the question!" whilst chortling to yourself was about as amusing and original as shouting "I'm a lady!" at David Walliams as he walks down the street.
Very weak. You write well Mr. Dale, but your face-to-face interviews are frequently cringe-worthy.
Did Paxman give you a slap on the arse when you parted company? It certainly looked like it to me.
