Tuesday is Crunch Day for Prezza

As John Prescott answers questions in the Commons he will be aware that Sir Philip Mawer's report has been handed to the MPs on the Standards Committee. They will consider it and give their verdict next Tuesday. If their track record is anything to go by I'm not holding my breath, but one thing is for sure - Sir Philip's report will leak, and if there's any hint of criticism of Prescott it ought to have severe implications.

Prescott almost lost it in the chamber just now, saying that people should judge him on his 35 years as an MP, in which he'd only ever had one job. Hmmm. No mention of the grace and favour RMT flat he had for years at a peppercorn rent. Strange that.

Isn't that the point, with only one job he only has one source of income and therefore has had to milk it for all it's worth, not really the best defense from poor JP.

Is it wise for Prescott to remind people that he's only had one job in the last 35 years? It reminds people that no one outside SW1 would be stupid enough to employ him.

Let him apply for a job with B @ Q he might like it?

BUT would he get one?

Is it just coincidence that the report comes out on the day the House rises for the summer?

He's trying to stay. This is the proverbial boiling a frog in a saucepan (as the heat gradually rises the frog doesn't notice he's being boiled alive).
