As John Prescott answers questions in the Commons he will be aware that Sir Philip Mawer's report has been handed to the MPs on the Standards Committee. They will consider it and give their verdict next Tuesday. If their track record is anything to go by I'm not holding my breath, but one thing is for sure - Sir Philip's report will leak, and if there's any hint of criticism of Prescott it ought to have severe implications.
Prescott almost lost it in the chamber just now, saying that people should judge him on his 35 years as an MP, in which he'd only ever had one job. Hmmm. No mention of the grace and favour RMT flat he had for years at a peppercorn rent. Strange that.
The confidence is there in the Maher I mean he's not the problem and Jeremy nor am I I've said it already and there is money there of course there is there's money for Labour and it's good money and we all have some and my wife leave her out of it she's a great lady and who I choose to spend my time with for female it's none of my business and the dome that's a great thing Greenwich needs investment and all of the it's the regeneration thing and you can have it your way John bloody Humphreys but thats where the money is going and I'm proud yes it's proud to be a far cry from spending it on Tory lies thats right just lies no don't interrupt Jeremy or I'll bloody hell are you editing this oh fuck I think I screwed up anyway that's where the moneys gone and we just talked about sensible Labour policies like more sex I mean money I mean less cash for bad causes. That's it I'm not going to continue this interview if you start asking stupid bloody questions John and I've said this before but all we talked about was the regeneration thing I'm fed up I can't do this interweb thingie but if I could I would tell that stupid Dale bloke what I thought of him if you don't shut up I'll bloody hit you and thank you but I'm putting my point so don't interrupt that it's regeneration (contd in limousine driving Prescott into retirement)
Isn't that the point, with only one job he only has one source of income and therefore has had to milk it for all it's worth, not really the best defense from poor JP.
Is it wise for Prescott to remind people that he's only had one job in the last 35 years? It reminds people that no one outside SW1 would be stupid enough to employ him.
Let him apply for a job with B @ Q he might like it?
BUT would he get one?
Is it just coincidence that the report comes out on the day the House rises for the summer?
He's trying to stay. This is the proverbial boiling a frog in a saucepan (as the heat gradually rises the frog doesn't notice he's being boiled alive).
