There is only one argument to put forward this election.

The only reason Gordon Brown is ahead in the polls is that he has created so many non-productive jobs in Government that people who have them are afraid if they vote Conservative they might lose them. However all these non-productive jobs are bankrupting the country. If you vote Labour you will lose your job anyway.

The only dividing line that matters here is this. Gordon Browns election dividing line is this.

"vote labour keep your job"
"vote conservative lose your job"

David camerons dividing line must be

"vote labour, bankrupt the country, then lose your job"
"vote conservative move to a sustainable job"

People are not stupid, they know deep Government cuts need to come. It's a question of moving to a sustainable economy from an unsustainable one. Labour will create an economy of unproductive jobs that drags the standard of living down and down and down. Creating a Government job is like waving a magic wand. But it's just an illusion and is bankrupting the country. People who have these non jobs need to feel ashamed and guilty. They need to do the right thing.

Just wanted to add that the message to people in unproductive Government jobs and uneccessary benefits should be.

"Are You Bankrupting Britain?"

re #6. Andrew Roberts a historian? Where to start -

1) Mrs Thatcher immediately resigned as Tory leader, with her place taken by former foreign secretary Francis Pym. Er, if Argentina had not invaded the Falklands, Pym would never have been Foreign Secretary, as Lord Carrington would not have resigned.

2) ... in April 1984 that the Argentinians resuscitated their 1982 plans and invaded the Falkland Islands. The settlement Foot's Eurosceptic foreign secretary, Peter Shore, reluctantly negotiated with Buenos Airies, via the Peruvian foreign minister Javier Perez de Cuellar and the U.S. secretary of State Alexander Haig ... Er, George Schultz surely. Haig has long since resigned.

3) Soon the union leaders Jack Jones of the Transport and General Workers' Union, the Scottish miners' Mick McGahey and Scargill were regularly entering No 10 for beer and sandwiches ... That would be Jack Jones who quit the TGWU in 1976, and Ee baa Gum Scottish miner Arthur Scargill!!!

4) The only reason why Foot was able to prevail in the 1988 election was through the shocking disunity of the Conservative Party under Michael Heseltine ...His determination to take sterling into the euro ... That would the Euro that was established by the Maastricht Treaty of 1992.

Seeing as he's writing for the Mail, I'm surprised he didn't mention Foot's embarrassment on learning that Jill Craigie has been voting Tory all along.
