Things You Learn from PROSPECT: No 94

It's amazing the things you learn from Prospect Magazine. In a recent issue, their 'In Fact' section informs us...
The entrance of the vagina has specialised nerve endings called Merkel receptors.
There has to be a joke there somewhere, but I am damned if I can think what it is. Perhaps my readers can assist (in their normal, tasteful manner, natch).

This is quite true, and not a lot of people know this fact but the Anus attracts Nu Labour folk, these receptors are commonly referred to as Arseholes.

Gordon Brown likes to sniff Merkel Receptors.

They are activated by Greeks bearing gifts.

Sorry to be boringly prosaic, but even you have Merkel receptors, Iain, and I suspect you haven't been near a vagina in years. They are 'touch' cells, and also help blind people read Braille.

They (Merkel receptors)are of course of far more use than Brownian Motion, the seemingly random movement of particles suspended in a fluid. Hence the nose picking, random acts of violence, inability to socialise, innumeracy, illiteracy and general all round hoonish behaviour.
McBroom needs to be mummified, cyrogenically frozen, entombed, and deeply buried.

Why is this news to you, Iain? Oh yes, sorry...

Incidentally, does this mean that Charlie Whelan has Merkel receptors?

I'd imagine the Merkel receptor let's an Angela know that she's safely on one's pinhead.

Don't you mean Greeks seeking gifts?

That £8 million - minus what they will lose in advertising revenue - no advertiser will pay what they pay now if the readership falls by 96%.

Advertisers will then migrate to free news sites...

I give the experiment 6 months at best.

Your wry point taken!

BTW, the "gift" I had had in mind was a Greek bond that had little redeemable value...

There is a Merkel cell cancer, which is particularly common in people with immunodeficiency syndromes like AIDS.
