[Mandelson's] culminating point -
"If I can come back, we can come back" - deserves more analysis.
What does it mean?
"Because this government is so dodgy that a Minister
twice sacked for corruption can come back a third time,
then people will vote for us"?

Even more to the point:
Yes he came back BUT nobody VOTED for him.
If Labour come back you can bet your ass that it won't be through legitimate votes.
Has he ever been sacked for corruption? Tread carefully.

From the on-line Oxford Dictionary:
corrupt
• adjective 1 willing to act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain. 2 evil or morally depraved. 3 (of a text or computer data) made unreliable by errors or alterations. 4 archaic rotten or putrid.
Draw your own conclusions...
His second dismissal was for an alleged offence committed before the offence that occasioned his first resignation.
Perhaps his third resignation will be brought about by a revelation about his corrupt conduct before those offences which brought about the second or the first.
I look forward to it.
* Note: Offer not applicable to Craig Murray
Ahem, I said as much last night on another well known Blog and cited it as evidence that Mandy had scorded a spectacular own goal by linking the Labour party with his own disgraceful comeback. He oversteped himself as he ALWAYS does the chump that he is !

Has he ever been sacked for corruption? Well who knows, eh? What chance is there ever of getting to the truth about Mandelson?
That's the trouble, really. It's patent that NuLab do nothing but lie.

Give us a clue? Please.
I've eliminated 3, but can't decide if its 1,2 or 4; 1 & 2; 1 & 4; 2 & 4; or, 1 7 2 & 4.
Assume you've read his revelation about Rory Stewart?
Not sure why it should be something to make public just because he's standing for Parliament - it's not like anyone did that in 1983 for Paddy Ashdown, for example.
Yes he came back BUT nobody VOTED for him.
Actually Mandelson did get a lot of votes when he held Hartlepool at the 2001 general election, just months after his second resignation.
Though this may be more to do with the calibre of his opponents, among them one A. Scargill, who lost his deposit by a wide margin.
The reason I remember this so vividly is the awesome hilarity of watching open-mouthed as Mandy's victory speech went on, and on, and on, becoming steadily more hysterical and ranting, plumbing ever greater depths of self-pity and self-justification, like a non-musical version of 'I Will Survive'.
I've often wanted to see it again but it's not on YouTube sadly.
Haha! That's exactly what I thought when he said it!
Or, to put it another way: "If I can get away with it, we can get away with it!"
Not this time, Pete.
The film 'V' springs to mind and the character of the PM seems to fit Mandelson perfectly, a fake front of 'nice chap' barely conealing an interior of malice, spite, arrogance and a lust for power that ordinary people would find impossible to fully comprehend.
The political class sometimes coughs up people of singular ambition allied to the worst character flaws, these character flaws can be a boon to the careers of the greasy pole climbers.
To reach the top in politics, the art of trampling over rivals, poisoning enemies, elbowing themselves to the front, taking credit/blaming failure on others.
There are good honest, kind, honourable and decent people who enter politics, Mandelson is not one of those.
How many careers and lives have been ruined by the likes of Mr Peter(elections R 4 mugs)Mandelson?
He wasn't sacked for corruption, of course . . . he resigned unnecessarily twice. On the basis of the Spellman and Osborne affairs I venture that he would have survived on each occasion had David Cameron appointed him.
I wonder what proportion of people buying a house are less than forthcoming about the source for their deposit? The Britania's CEO said: "I am satisfied that the information given to us at the time of the mortgage application was accurate."
His department's inquiries into Geoffrey Robinson's dealings were made independently of Mandelson.
He was driven out by Tony Blair's failure to stand form in the face of the Tory Press and their homophobic hatred of a very successfuyl socialist.
After his second resignation "An independent enquiry by Sir Anthony Hammond came to the conclusion that neither Mandelson nor anyone else had acted improperly." Wiki has it.
