Ron Davies Contemplates a Second Moment of Madness

Sad as I am not to be at Plaid Cymru's conference I can't say I am disappointed at not being able to rub shoulders, or indeed anything else, with badger watching ex Labour Cabinet Minister Ron Davies, who has been hobnobbing with the nationalists in Aberystwyth Llandudno. According to THIS report from Ordovicius, he may be planning a defection to Plaid in the not to distant future. Proof if ever it were needed, that a political party will accept anyone nowadays.

Loving badgers was Ok until this Labour Government criminalised it

Plaid are in Landudno not Aberystwyth.

Not that anyone outside the conference hall will notice (or care)

A rat deserting a sinking ship onto a smaller trawler that itself has sprung a leak in the hold.

I don't know why he's bothering though, he has been nothing in Welsh politics for the best part of a decade. Though going to Plaid wouldn't be too much of a Damascine leap. As the saying goes, they're two cheeks of the same arse.

It would be a logical move given that he is already a cabinet member in the Plaid dominated cabinet that runs Caerphilli Council. Ron sits as an independent on Caerphilli council and both he and his colleague support the Plaid adminstration. His wife is also a Plaid councillor on the same council. His analysis of the future of Welsh politics might be wrong but his speech at the Plaid conference recieved favourable coverage in today's Western Mail. He even praised Tories such as Nick Bourne and David Melding. Who knows perhaps he is attracted to the Tories as well as Plaid.

AC/DC politics?

What have you got against Ron Davies, you vile homophobe? You disgust me, Mr Dale. Imagine if you felt yourself attracted to men and how difficult that would be having lived as straight guy. You really have no idea.

I was surprised that Dale, as a fellow gayer, would make semi-homophobic cracks about another, with his'rubbing up' nudge-nudge comment. Not all gay men are as comfortable in their skins as you, Dale.

Nice, the Anonybots are out in force again. Aside from the reference to Davies' 'moment of madness' there was nothing in the post which hinted at his sexuality. Grow up children.

@Uncle Bob

So apart from the clear reference to his sexuality ('moment of madness') there was no reference to his sexuality? What kind of cretin are you?

LRRH - there was no reference to his sexuality.

There was a reference to Mr Davies committing an illegal sexual act in a public place.

Mr Davies can put his penis in whichever orifice he likes as long as he does so in private.

The "rubbing up" comment is truly awful, as was the mistaken location. But what do you expect from a man whose contribution to the last Plaid event he attended was to blog nonstop from the foyer about how he wished he was watching West Ham.
For the record, Ron won't join Plaid because he doesn't support independence and Plaid like him as an ally but don't want him to join.

The land of Lloyd George tolerates politician's fobiles rather better than our neighbours! A little tolerance for people who grew up in less liberal times wouldn't be a bad idea. As it happens Ron Davies is still respected and well-liked in Wales. Look up the 2007 assembly result in Caerphilly if you want the proof.
