Five Books

A couple of weeks ago I recorded a 5 minute podcast for some people called BUZZ, talking about five books which have had an impact on me. I chose...

In the Arena by Richard Nixon
Jeffrey Archer's Prison Diaries
Gyles Brandreth's Breaking the Code
Peggy Noonan's What I saw at the Revolution
George Orwell's Animal Farm
Click HERE to listen to my explanation. Scroll in to 4' 12"

'Jeffrey Archer's Prison Diaries', eh...?

*chuckle*

Admit it, you put that one up just to annoy jailhouselawer, didn't you? ;)

Great blog article - not a bad podcast generally actually. The Reagan book is superb! Thanks for reminding me of it, read it ages ago - and I'm going to go back for a second go.

Isn't 4' 12" another way of saying 5', Iain?

I am so disappointed with your Blog, Iain. Since the start of the summer holidays you have made little political comment. It's September now and you seem more interested in self-promotion than in joining the fight to get Britain a decent government. I am removing you from my favourites!

Iain, have you ever read "The Witness" by Whittaker Chambers?

I much prefer Jonathan Aitken's prison-inspired writings to Archers: Aitken's style is refreshingly honest. One learns a lot from Aitken, while Archer never seems to have learned anything.

Potager, clearly you are very selective in your reading.

Nathan, no, I haven't.

God Iain, you're so tabloid! Not to mention your inadvisable top 100 songs.

Is this satire? Jeffrey Archer?

Reminds me that it's been some time since I did a Tory Booklist - I will work on one and publish it here shortly. I know my booklists are very popular and they generally don't include anything by Archer.

Do people recall Craig Brown's "Lady Archer Diaries" in Private Eye? "As Chairman of Addenbrokes Hospital, I am well used to coming down hard on persistent liars."
