Shaun Conquers His Nerves

Ok, I'm watching the X Factor final. Go on, slate me. You know you want to. There's a young guy called Shaun singing at the moment. He's singing RIGHT HERE WAITING FOR YOU. Earlier in the series he was shown shaking with fear at the prospect of singing. He wasn't put through by Messers Cowell, Walsh and Osborne. For him to conquer his nerves and sing live on this programme tonight was a phenomenal feat. I haven't really watched much of this series but it is quite clear that Leona is a real star in the making. But I won't be wasting 35p on voting!

DO COME BACK AFTER 9PM - I HAVE A PHENOMENAL STORY...

I'm not going to slate you, because when I had a telly I used to watch 'Pop Idol'...in fact, watching so much 'reality television' was probably the reason I ditched it.

Reading, going to the cinema and the blogosphere are better alternatives, if not always as cheap.

You could learn a few tricks from Simon Cowell - a few well thought through put-downs would improve your TV ratings, or you could play Mr nice-guy when ever a bad comment is made. Your destiny lies in your hands Iain.

javelin, one of the things which is very annoying about tv at present is the preponderance of bullies like Alan Sugar, Gordon Ramsay as well as Simon Cowell. Okay, it's an act in many cases, but it sends out the wrong message, and we certainly don't need any more of them.

what is wrong with being a bit more like nigella or raymond blanc ? being nasty is just a symptom of being, ahem, 'deficient' in other areas.

35p ?? When I were a lad, 'twere only 10p....is any of it going to 'charidee' ? still, kids were voting up to 7 times before, so i guess they will just have to be rationed to only voting twice now...

I think it could be a 'Scenes you seldom see' cartoon in Private Eye...

Mum, Dad, I am asking you for the 'bill payers permission' before I register my third X-factor vote...

We're all closet X Factor fans really Iain, you are not alone. Leona should win but I think the whole of the north west is rooting for Ray. She does have the Take That factor though so you never know. TT are even better (and better looking too) second time around ! but I digress...

what I find slightly disturbing is the comic value that is found in laughing at contestants who are truly awful. And doesn't everyone have an X factor anyway. One person's frog is another's prince

I posted thus ages and ages and ages ago

Any way X factor: Afloat though one was on a high tide of tiresome drivel beneath it all was the luminous glow of real talent. Leona Lewis sung “I`ll be there” the old Jackson Five Number and took on Michael when he had the sweetest voice there has ever been. I remember Mariah Carey trying and failing on the same test. This girl is different, when she sang …” Don’t you know baby yeah yeah” she soared away and won my heart forever. … she really is special.

(Sparks are still rubbish though)
