David Davis Launches Video Podcast on Crime
So after Webcameron we're now treated to WebDD. David Davis has made a ten minute video podcast for a new venture called eParliament.tv, which you can view HERE. It's all about designing out crime on council estates. It's not full of flowery soundbites, it's a hard look at a real problem and looks at how to solve it. The video starts with an outtake, which I guess is an innovative approach! The idea is to get a debate going on a subject which politicians have neglected for far too long. eParliament.tv is a really good idea and I know that its creator, James Fletcher, has got some fantastic videos lined up with other politicians. Another step forward for political interaction via the Internet. David Davis has written an article on Designing out Crime HERE.

david davis is more in line with 'right' conservative thought.. but I fear we need cameron to garner the votes.. but as long as davis is involved in the higher levels of governance if and when the tories are elected.. us on the right of the party can hope for some sensible policy going beyond a green drive I hope..
Proof that 'short films' can always be shorter.
I've just had a look at the site and I do agree with DD. I really would like to see the Tories back in the saddle. I have high hopes for DD and DC.
I think they way in which the Tories have taken technology on and utilising it the way they are is great.
Nu-Lab are trying bless, but it kinda feels they've been left behind.
Getting ready for a putsch are we ?
I do hope so (+:
Davis and Hague unleashed would be a shoe in against Gordon ,then Cameron could resign as an MP and devote the rest of his life to cleaning the bogs at Toynbee hall (I dont mean pollys house)
Superb - just the kind of approach to communicating a message that it going to revolutionise politics.
...designing out crime...
Can you give us the abbreviated version for those with limited time?
I wish he'd put on a jacket.
"politics is the software of the nation"
Oh dear...
Verity - it was high, hot summer when it was filmed.
Nice to hear and see an outbreak of sanity from the Conservatives-perhaps a DD could work wonders after all!!!
The concept of defensible space has been around for years.. just as DD said. Public housing has been so subject though, to the whims and witlessness of local politicians, that the vast areas of shit and shame are as much their responsibility as the people who live in them.
Local affordable housing is so important to our social well-being and the common good that it defies belief that the decision making is left to a few local nitwits who care more about putting politically correct names to housing areas than actually waking up and seeing the trail of despair they are creating.
It was a good piece, simply put and with far less political spin than I have extrapolated from it.
Politicans visiting an estate can often be so embarrassing. Davis was cool and natural. It all made a lot of sense too.
