On the day Lady Thatcher returns home from hospital, a poll is published which puts Lady T as the most influential woman in the world. Trailing behind her were Michelle Obama at sixth place and Germaine Greer at eleventh place. Thoroughly well deserved, she completely transformed Britain for the better and was instrumental in the West's victory in the Cold War.
Congratulations Lady T, and get well soon!

I'll be sure and email Florence Anderson that Maggie is on the mend.
Brilliant News
Which muppets voted? Yeah, fairy snuff she's a good egg and all but if we're playing games with history why not Elizabeth 1st?
Not dissin' the results just the muppets who voted. It has to be current and in which case it's gots to be Hilary Trousers Clinton or Betty 2nd.
Considering that Hilary gives people the option of their desire for war and Brenda utterly prevents a coup d'etat in Blighty and soft sells the Commonwealth i'd be inclined to say both their reaches extended beyond a Thatch.
Echo that Ian. Fine lady indeed.
Agree wholeheartedly Ian. Oh that we could have someone like Lady T now!!
Any chance of a link to the poll results so that we can make our own minds up about its legitimacy? Thanks :-)
Yup!
Yup Yup Hooray!
I remember watching the results come in with my brother when she was voted in for the second time. Fantastic! I know she looks frail now, but she is in her 80's.
I really hope when she does leave us bereft at her going, she gets the state funeral she deserves.
Daedalus.
I wonder about the basic premise of the poll. It's all a bit present tense. There was a time ('79 - '90) when Margaret Thatcher was probably the most influential woman in the world. To say that she still is seems to me to be an utter nonsense. As others above noted, Hilary Clinton undoubtedly has more impact on the world as it is today.
Nevertheless, I am cheered by the news of her return back to home from the hospital. It will be a sad day when she is no longer with us, and while not agreeing with the poll findings, I do entirely agree with Grant's assertion that she transformed Britain and was instrumental (along with Ronald Reagan and Mikhael Gorbachev) in the ending of the Cold War.
Hear hear to that.
Shame on those own goalers who stabbed her in the back.
Hmm ... I'd forgotten how big a prick Dick was.
She is reported to have had 'flu': did she have a flu jab last winter, I wonder?
The most influential lady in the world?!
OK, so first thought - where's the link to this poll?
Second thought - really?! I mean, influential whilst in power, sure, but currently more influential? Who does she influence? On what subjects?! To be very harsh, I doubt even Cameron takes her calls, never mind other world leaders.
I fear this poll is, well, nonsense.
Ah shucks Trevorsden, guess no Christmas card this year? Forgotten how little wit you had.
Just the other day I was talking to some Thai students and I mentioned Margaret Thatcher. They had never heard of her.
May I just wish her well and delighted shw has returned home. She was good for Britain..Take care Maggie..
