Caroline Dinenage Shows How!
Many congratulations to Caroline Dinenage, who has won the Gosport Open Primary. This was a true Open Primary in which more than 12,000 people voted by post. I suspect there will be some pressure to repeat these postal primaries with two women topping the ballot in both the votes which have been held so far (Sarah Wollaston was the other in Totnes). They are a thoroughly good thing in my view.
Footnote: For younger readers, HOW! was a children's programme fronted by Caroline's father Fred in the 1970s. He is now a director of Portsmouth Football Club and presents the region's ITV newss programme. Two of the other presenters of HOW! were the excellent Jack Hargreaves and Bunty. Anyone remember the name of the other one?

He also presented HOW 2 up until three years ago so I'm not sure there will be any "younger" readers unfamiliar with him!!!
Dinenage also did How! 2, which was on for the 'younger' among us. :P
Showing your age here...
Nostalgia alert

They don't make shows like it anymore, old Jack with his pipe hanging out of his mouth, it takes me back to happier times!
Tommy Boyd..or was that later?
I'd not boast too loudly. Alan Partridge was modelled on Fred Dinenage.
There is a terrible but plausible rumour about Fred.
It involves him going to A&E and the retrieval of a banana. Apparently nobody asked, "How?"
Ah the poor man`s Zowie Ball ,could it get any better ?
I remember HOW, I cannot believe that Fred Dineage is still going, but good luck to him if he has sired a Tory candidate.
I also seem to remember the skit (by not the 9 o'clockm news??) on it - hilarious.
Can't think of Jack Hargreaves without thinking of Bob Fleming now.
The working class in Teesside are certainly suffering. Does Mandy care?
As one worker says
“The bankers get bailed out, but we get nothing on Teesside.”
The Times says
"1,700 Teesside steel workers were told today that they will lose their jobs "
"closure...would also leave up to 3,000 contractors out of work and have devastating knock-on effects in the local economy. "
Never mind all the rubbish about browns Eton taunts and toff attacks.
its Britain's industrial workers who have been shafted under Labour
This is enough to make anyone go Out of Town.
He also presented "Gambit" which frankly was a better concept than much of he Saturday night package we get these days.
