LibDem Voice: Ming Must Go!
Laurence Boyce has just joined the Liberal Democrats... And he's just penned a PIECE calling for Ming to go. Only in the Liberal Democrats...

But who listens to people who have only just joined a party? Not the old timers - that's for sure.
Much as Iain might like to see the LDs enter the turmoil of a leadership election, it isn't going to happen.
I think all this Tory "Ming must stay, he does enough damage just by being there" is just an exercise in reverse psychology. We Lib Dems are supposed to read it, think "oh my goodness, the Tories like Ming," and stab him in the back like we knifed Chucky. That plunges us into the turmoil of a leadership election, and plays right into your hands.
Then again, maybe it's triple psychology, and you want us to keep him ...
So glad I’m entertaining you all! I was half expecting Rob to turn it down, but he’s been so good to me that joining the Lib Dems felt like the least I could do. I can’t now see Sir Ming taking us through a general election, so it’s a bit like the IDS situation. If he hangs on, his successor will have no time to plan and prepare. I simply can’t understand why Chris Huhne was passed over for leader. At the time, I hardly knew much about him, but he just seemed to display all the right qualities. Part of me wonders whether his being a millionaire might have counted against him for some of the unreconstructed socialists in the party.
for goodness sake, I thought for a minute it might have been someone whose views actually amounted to a hill of beans....
The LDs have 12 months to decide whether to stick with Ming before the 'Cannot change our horses in mid-stream' period running up to the next election kicks in.
Luckily, they are the party for whom the phrase '..used to be indecisive, but now I'm not too sure..' could have been invented.
Read the thread that follows - it gets better & better. Most recent posting bangs on about gaining councillors in Tewksbury and concludes "where we work we win" i.e. the dire liberal performance in most of UK is only down to lazy liberals. If they pull their fingers out they are on the verge of power. what planet are they on?
I'm a party member whose first choice at the last leadership election was Huhne; I still believe that to be true.
LibDems are not usually known for the Tory's post-Major leadership election tendencies. I hope this remains the case because the electorate do not want to see us acting as we did with Charles.
Of course, there's no such thing as 'free speech' on LibbyDem Home! If you can't take the pi** out of a Ldem , what has the world come to! The 'Minger' is useless, hopeless in the Commons, hopeless in the wider context as 'potential' PM, and of course, too close to Labour. Huhne and Clegg are hopeless vaccuous non-entities - typical faceless LibbyDems. If anything, the Ldem i would 'fear' most is the relatively sane Dr Evan Harris. That's my darkhorse pick either when the LDems get rid, or Ming expires.

You will soon learn there is no free speach on LDV. Rob is the spitful git tag on my blog. So many people he has kicked to the kerb.
Least you and I are singing from the same hymn sheet
You mean the Tories or Labour would never let such a thing be posted?
That I can believe.
*shrugs* people are entitled to their opinion. They can put them forward and argue them. How else are we to decide on a course of action?
True LibDem Voice has had some problems with banning people. But it isn't a party mouthpiece and human being are involved.
As for Simon who suggested Evan Harris - if you want a social democrat party then perhaps, but we have the Tories and Labour for that why do we need another?
If the Lib Dems had any sense they would dump Ming now otherwise they will be hamstrung with him into a General Election.
He's a serious liability and his overtures to Brown will damage them even further in England as they'll get squeezed between Labour and the resurgent Cameron Conservatives. He's also appalling when it comes to domestic issues and will get massacred on TV.
The Scottish Parliament elections show at least 6 seats under serious threat from all the other parties.
However from what I'm hearing they are like a rabbit in the headlamps and don't know whish way to move.

Tim, no, that's not what I want at all! Keep Ming, that's what I say! But this bout of speculation is a good thing too.
Thank You Iain,
That is the funniest thing I have read in an age! I've only just stopped laughing!
You're absolutely right though the longer the LD's are contemplating the value of their leader the better. Especially if it remains at that level!

Jonny, so we've got you right where we want you... lol

'Ming must go!' Why ??
Who else have they got ??
Why didn't he/she show their face last time they had a chance ?
A party can't have a leadership election every bloody year !

Bloody hell Susanne, that’s a bit harsh!
