Chris Gill Joins UKIP Three Stops Short of Dagenham
Shock horror news. Former Tory MP Chris Gill has joined UKIP. Apparently he was so disgusted by David Cameron's comments about UKIP being full of "fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists" that he decided to prove Cameron's point. Well, two out of three ain't bad - i.e. the first two. This is, however, not a defection. Gill resigned his Tory membership some time ago and I believe has already publicly declared he voted for UKIP at the last election. I am one of the few people to have read his vanity-published memoirs A Whip's Nightmare, in which he provides an entertaining account of the "Whipless Twelve's" fight against the Maastricht Treaty. I always thought he looked like a Harry Enfield caricature of a slightly doo-lally Tory MP who was three stops short of Dagenham (i.e. Barking). Not much has happened to change my mind.

Good riddance by the sound of it...
Cor, look at that photo -- he's already purple...
Richard, he's not a real conservative. If he was, he'd be fighting for his beliefs within the party. He's a treacherous turncoat. And as for your comment about me toadying to the leadership, you don't read this blog much obviously. Scroll down and you'll find plenty of comments that are critical. But at least I try to be constructive rather than destructive.
Don't kid yourself Iain, Christopher Gill is worth ten of the likes of you. He is a great loss to our party. Visit my site, an oasis for all true blue British Empire Conservatives and Unionists. The Conservative Party, fighting an election on our ideological platform would be victorious - sweeping Labour, Lib Dems, UKIP, Veritas and BNP before it.
