Labour MP To Face Deselection Battle?

I hear from my spies in very marginal seat of South Ribble that all is not well between the local Labour MP David Borrows - or David S Borrow, as he likes to be known. The latest manifestation has come in a little local spat between Mr Borrow and the leader of the Labour Group on the Council over free bus passes. Borrow has accused the Council of misusing government funds. I am told that the Labour group leader Howard Gore is hankering after Mr Borrows' seat and if he is usurped would certainly want to replace him. Locals are distinctly underwhelmed by the amount of time Mr Borrows spends asking questions in Parliament about Bophutswana. Can't think why.

Mr Gore seems to have optimistic views about Labour prospects in 2009. Because if they hold South Ribble again, it mean that the tories will probably be very far away from Downing Street.

Didn't the Tories win that magnificent Parrish Council by-election victory in South Ribble recently?

Today South Ribble, tomorrow the world
