Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess.

But to treat future Tory voters like this is stretching it a bit methinks.

Iain I know this is off topic, but I hope you will do a piece about the widespread electoral fraud that is now a common practice in our banana republic.

"Yesterday the Mail visited one four-bedroom flat in the area where 18 men are apparently claiming a vote, all of whom registered within the past month.

The students living there were baffled by many of the names said to be residing with them. Another resident was surprised to learn that eight complete strangers were also registered as living in the small flat she shares with her partner.

Other addresses investigated by the Mail were linked to the Labour Party."

The young girl has just realised that Brown's ruinous handling of the country's economy means she can forget going to see the new Miley Cyrus film......

Greg's comment is abhorrent and should be deleted.

Just watched Douglas Alexander on Daily Politics claiming that Peter Hain and Ed balls were not suggesting tactical voting. Incredible!

I'll add to the comments about potential electoral fraud Iain. There is an underlying problem that this Government has chosen to ignore, and Jerome Taylor's terrible experience, which is as much an attack on press freedom as well as highly suspicious in relation to the story he was researching, can't be allowed to go unanswered.

So does editorial policy on a blog, it seems. A strange thing happened in the last half hour. Tom Harris accepted a post of mine - published it so that the comments number went up from six to seven up but now - it's gone! Comments on that thread are back at six at time of going to Iain.

OK, I'd said something abut him defending the indefensible, meaning the government, but he wasn't so offended by that that he wouldn't publish it. At first.

What can this mean? Technical hitch no doubt, post bound to reappear... spirit of tolerating dissent...

Adding to the postal vote potential fraud request. Wasn't there also something about the rather surprising Glenrothes by-election result?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7867022.stm

I don't think a forensic investigation is needed: maybe just a post highlighting the issue, that'll get picked up around the blogosphere / twitterati?

Our current method of administering postal votes is not worthy of a first world country. And if it could be done for a single constituency during a by-election campaign, how much easier would it be to do during a GE when the attention on any one seat is unlikely to be comprehensive enough to notice a few hundred bent votes. And they could make a big difference in a hung Parliament.

You know as well as I do, Jim Baxter, that Tom Harris, and Uncle Tom Cobly and all in the Labour Party cannot deal with dissent. Not even reasoned, polite dissent.

Sooner or later, it was going to come down to him deleting comments merely because they highlight inconvenient facts.

Somehow, you can forgive the Damien McBrides and the Tom Watsons of this world, because there is no hope from them and they never pretended to be anything other than shits. But Harris revels in an inflated reputation for being honest and able to deal with arguments, to the extent of placing "advice" on his blog about being liberal in comment moderation. We all know he is very selective.

He is just another indicator of how slimy and disingenuous New Labour really is. cf Gillian Duffy.
