Whaddamistakeadamaka
A reader just sent this to me. It's from Metro at the end of June so it may well have appeared elsewhere for all I know. If you're a politician and this sort of thing happens to you, you know your luck's out. It's the sort of thing which might have happened to John Major in 1996.
I am surprise no one has brought it to Ed Balls' attention before now. Always happy to help.

Perhaps it's unintentionally prophetic - Bulging Eyes will eventually stab his dysfunctional Caledonian patron and protector in the back, politically speaking, rather than go into oblivion with him....
one can but hope
Can it be done soon and give the Lake District a glimmer of hope for the rest of the visitors
Iain, have you ever stopped to think about why your comments and little musings have been attracting so much criticism of late? Guido has an open door policy and, although he's probably made a lot more powerful enemies than you over the years, rarely attracts abuse or vitriol. In fact, of late, most of the abuse I've witnessed on Guido's site has been directed at either Gordon Brown, Blinky, Toenails or you.
Maybe people are just sick and tired of your cloying sanctimony and the fact that your nose has taken up permanent residence within Nadine, and every other thieving MP's, anus
Yeah Iain, that's hilarious. Especially for the victims' families. You really have lost all grip on reality. Grow up
Iain, re your anon tweet - yes put pre-reg back on.
It doesn't betray who anyone is so I can't see what the problem could be.
The anonotrolls are really boring and I assume that these are just a sample of the ones you get.
Easy mistake to make. Ed Balls does look like a sex criminal.
Sanctimonious bore alert at 6:49.

Normally, when people are sick and tired of something, they stop doing it. That's why I try and avoid reading the comments on blogs. Bloggers like Guido and DK preach to the choir safe in the knowledge that any dissent will be drowned out by playground abuse.
I'm sure Iain would encourage those wearied by his blog to take a break from reading it for a while and spend their internet time doing something that brings them more pleasure. If they do that by joining the baying mob of cynical quasi-libertarians and spending their time thinking up stunningly creative insults for politicians and their associates, fair enough.
I'll continue to count this blog as one of my favourites, simply because of the humanity, decency and modesty exhibited by Iain in his posts. These qualities still count for something, even on the internet.
Chipmunks to the rescue
No one has dared mention what a right BALLS up this has been. Perhaps this silence is in the name of comedy!
Iain this is not funny and I don't appreciate your sense of humour. Think of the victims families or are you incapable of that. My advice GROW UP!
I think you are being an idiot posting this sort of material.
Grow up you stupid ignorant fool.
Iain I am beginning to really dislike this blog which is cheap and nasty.
"Iain this is not funny and I don't appreciate your sense of humour."
There's a bloody plague of sanctimonious bores today...
"Iain I am beginning to really dislike this blog which is cheap and nasty."
Cheap? Cheap!? I'm not paying anything for it, I'm getting it for free. Who's charging you? ;)

Cheap and nasty in a quality sense of the term.

And I am sick and tired of reading increasingly inane comments from anonytrolls who come on here only to take offence or give it.
It only seems to have happened relatively recently, but these anonytrolls have been getting ever louder. You don't like the blog? Don't flipping read it. Also, what DJM said.

I am sick and tired of Iain's poor sense of humour and his inability to understand politics.
This would be the guy who got 12 years today? Do keep up...
This Anon s**t is getting silly. Even as a leftist myself I appreciate Iain's take on things. To put into jeopardy the free speech policy Iain has will be detrimental to us all. Naff off. I'm not sure this'll work, but I've tried...
As I recall, it *did* happen to John Major, in a way. Remember the mistake by Ceefax which inadvertently turned poor Norma into an adulteress?
Sky confused Clegg with Griffin for an embarrassing few minutes:

Iain,
I would vote for turning anonymous back off as you mentioned on twitter. The trolls are just ruining the quality of the comments.
All you very precious people out there who are just waiting to be offended about something, in order to give your life meaning (it won't work, you are all losers) just try and get a life.
We are sadly in the era of self-righteous faux offense and martyrdom by proxy. Nothing is real any more. Nobody actually does or feels anything. So they have to make it up.
Either that, or they have to turn their little pet perversion into a kind of contestant in the "Who is the most taunted minority" game.
Well, may they be sexually intercoursed with extreme prejudice.
