Glad to be Alive

What could me more perfect - a sunny day, the balcony doors open, the smell of freshly cut grass wafting into the room, lounging on the sofa, a Jack Russell (Gio) asleep beside me, sipping iced lemon fanta, still basking in the glory of West Ham's win, watching England score runs against Australia, reading Piers Morgan's latest diaries and anticipating watching Justin Rose winning the Masters. And the Tories being eleven points ahead in an Observer poll. Does life get much better?

Well, you have already put the mockers on the cricket team. If Justin Rose goes belly up tonight I shall start worrying about the conservatives.

Perhaps that's how life would get better for you.

The weather has been fantastic this weekend (its not even officially summer). Only a few on your list I can agree with: I'd love a Jack Russell, but being PAYE with a '9 to 5' job it wouldn't be fair on the poor thing. And the Tories? I wouldn't give up the day job just yet Iain.

Sounds lovely Iain. It's a beautiful day, but sadly I'm too busy trying to simultaneously read nine books for the seven essays that I've got to write over the Easter hols! I love sixth form really.
I will definitely take a break to watch the golf though. Good luck to Justin, but like fr I'm concerned you may have put the mockers on him...
Best wishes, a

Only perhaps to see a newsflash involving Mr Yates, Mr Blair and a Custody Officer.

Shame about the reading Piers Morgan Diaries bit.

12th January
So Simon Cowell said to me 'Oi Morgan'...

13 January
So Philip Green said to me 'Oi Morgan'...

15 January
So Alan Sugar said to me 'Oi Morgan'...

and so on and so on and so on.

I'm afraid Justin has just dropped two shots at the first Iain and rumour has it that Milibong could be about to enter the race.

"What could me more perfect - a sunny day" ?

A rainy day with Tony et.al being carted off to jail, BBC news readers being carted off to the regions and Gordon being carted off to the asylum - now that's a perfect day.

The Tories should damn well be 20 points ahead.

And it should be 80 degrees, not 70.

Still I have always been a perfectionist.

Did anyone notice in the detailed data in the poll you mentioned that many English, in particular Londoners, want Scottish independence? New Labour and the Barnett formula between them really have undermined the union.

fr is right. cricket collapse, rose collapse and tory collapse to follow ... is that dog growling btw? ... not yet doc has a good point ... but unfortunately then the world will get worse for most everybody else ...

Personally I've always preferred eating caviare to the sound of trumpets...

But your situation would come a reasonable second, I think.

Iain you must have far too much money. Only a couple of hours before this post you claim that Gordon Brown has lost you £100,000 (about fives years pay for the average man in the street) then you claim you're glad to be alive and having a good day....far too much money, or have you just return from Las Vegas? I think we should be told.
I'm more of a cat person anyway.

I can't share your delight about the Tories' decent poerformance in the opinion polls ...

... but wasn't it fantastic to see a McLaren 1-2 victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix this morning? Alonso and Hamilton are a real dream team. McLaren winning the constructors' championship this year - that would be a perfect day!

Well said Jonny Wright!

I met Lewis Hamilton last year at the British GP at Silverstone, where he had gone from 8th on the grid to win the GP2 race.

He's the best racer I've seen in years and I'll make a bold prediction here - he will be World Champion within the next 2 seasons.

He's a thoroughly nice chap (as is his Dad.) He deserves to do well.

Iain,

I hate to worry you, but looking at that photo of your Jack Russell, I'm almost certain that he leads a double life, blogging under the name of "Mutley the Dog."

The same thing happened to Ron Weasley with "Scabbers" the pet Rat.

You have been warned..

Iain, a few for starters. England BEATING Australia and winning the world cup on the same day that England rugby announce the entire board has resigned to be replaced by (only) Martin Johnson, then Blair being arrested and charged with selling Peerages and War Crimes, then losing a vote of no confidence, Brown taking over, only to call and lose a general election, with David Cameron announcing a return to 'small state - big people' based on reversing almost every Blairite 'advance' of the past decade. But, more than all of this, a change in the law which allows me to go to bloody B&Q on easter Sunday - the one day spare in a year I have to sort out the garden - and discover it is actually open!

What a difference a day makes! A mere 24 hours later and now look at us. Still, I'm catching the last rays of the weekend before another week in my mouse-infected office. Bliss.

Iain & notyetdoc:

If the Tories were in govt, surely Iain would be an MP and not have time anymore for leisurly moments.

So enjoy the peace and quiet whilst you can Iain!
