Don't Vote for Iain Dale

This is the Lib Dem regional list for the South of Scotland in May's Holyrood elections....

1. Jime Hume
2. Patsy Kenton
3. Joe Rosiejack
4. Paul McGreal
5. Iain Dale
6. Cllr Catriona Bhatia
7. Marianne Andrews

And I told them to keep it quiet... Still, not much chance of being elected at No 5, so nothing lost, eh?

For those about to explode over their morning coffee, Iain Dale is my LibDem namesake. Strangely, he comes from the very area which my family hail from in Ayrshire. Looking at the picture on his BLOG we seem to share a similar taste in ties...

Neckwear snob, shame on you.

You are prettier than him anyway ....

Speaking of selection matters. Gordon Brown is now claiming he has 200 nominations in the bag. Aren't you going to blog that? Meaning more than three candidates is arithmetically impossible. Or is it a late April Fool's prank from New Labour HQ who say they are running the nominations like a gameshow! Trumping the Tories at every turn. More showbizzier than thou! Mili Vanilli to win and then be exposed as a hoaxing mime artist? With a mystical svengali producer Ablairio pulling his strings?

What a spectacularly boring blog his is. I almost inadvertently fell asleep just browsing it.

The real question is, where do you rank on the Tory Mayor of London shortlist?

You look like you could be related. How funny, twins with the same name....

Just an FYI, Cllr Catriona Bhatia is David Steele's daughter. While I am no fan of Lib Dems I have to say that she has been an excellent councillor for Scottish Borders Council.

Think the tie is a good enough reason not to vote for him. Still he'll get some traffic today

Following Alan’s comment I dare not look.

You confuse me Iain you are always being big tentedly approving of Liberals and socially Liberal in one way or another. Yet I have also heard you say that you " Hate " the Lib Dems. Oh what a paradox wrapped within a riddle you are .
I was explaining to DAMP SQUIB ( AKA DYNAMITE old fart of this Parish sporting pubescent Nom de Guerre ). That Liberals have no principles. It would be more accurate to say they have many and varied principles all of which are contradictory The entire exercise is a young fogeyish tucking into the media establishment duvet, for young acolytes, and a bourgeois affectation for the old. Personally therefore, they are unattractive , but the Party is so formless as to defeat any frontal assault by sheer bonelessness .

I can understand why opposition to this cursed band of moral lepers would spring from personal dislike. Politically, however, it would be fascinating to know how the Cameroon brand of Blue Liberal is so distinct as to garner your enthusiastic support…

What is the difference between a Nic Boles and any other Liberal I wonder….None that I can discern except that you are more likely to be in the Cabinet in the Conservative Party.

Why not spell your name "Ian", which is far less pretentious?

I would not worry - none of them will be elected - there was an excellent editorial in the Scottish Edition of the Sun attacking the Lib Dems as a 'Wasted Vote' you should try to get a copy of it. Alas it is not online.

Dales in Ayrshire?

Mine come from Lancashire, which is at least within striking distance of the peak district's dales.

By the way, I am sure not much mention of 10th anniversary of the surrender will be on the blogs.

Thanks for the plug Iain. I haven't been blogging much recently as my 'pooter "blew up" and the depression has been pretty severe.

I'm also the Liberal Democrat candidate for Cunninghame South in the Scottish Parliament elections and for the North Ayrshire Council Ward of Irvine West. As you atre probably aware Scottish Council elections are taking place under STV Proportional Representation. Irvine West is a 4 member ward and I have an excellent chance to be elected to the council.

Charles Kennedy is standing for the Greens for the Council in Edinburgh and Adam Ingram is standing for the SNP for parliament...there's a lot of it about.

Wow, I knew that the Conservatives have gone pink, but actually representing the Lib Dems is one step further than I thought they would go. :)
