The Falklands War: 25 Years On

The Margaret Thatcher Foundation website has some brilliant archive material released today - lots of sound archive of Mrs T speaking in the Commons, together with a diary from Jim Rentschler, an official in the Reagan White House. Click HERE for more.

Gordon, Gordon, I've got a cunning plan to get us out of this pension's scandal.

Let's blame it on the CBI....

Michael Nicholson's retrospective on ITV last night was very good.

Did anyone see Derek Twigg is going to the Falklands after all? It was in the Observer's diary.

No mention of how she practically invited the Argentines in in the first place, nor of how the Navy had to stage a sort of temporary coup by pretending that she didn't exist for the duration of hostilities (she had, for example, initially thought that they could get there within three days).

And Enoch Powell's comments at the time are as relevant now as then, that those who were rightly willing to fight to defend British Dependent Territory thousands of miles away were at the same time actively engaged in signing away part of the United Kingdom.
