Arthur Daley Peter Hain has now been named by Plaid Cymru MP Elfyn Llwyd as the man who offered Peter Law a Peerage. But even more damagaing than that, he alleges that Hain was authorised to do so by the Prime Minister. Sky have just been running with the story, but nothing as yet on the BBC Politics website and it did not feature on the News 24 mid-day headlines.
No doubt they will class this as a 'non story' and use the fact that today is election day as an excuse not to run it at all. I should say that Peter Hain continues to deny the allegation.
UPDATE: 12.30 The story has now appeared on the BBC News website. Hurrah! Hence the strikethrough from the original story. Happy to admit when I'm wrong!

As Mandy Rice Davis said 'well he would say that wouldn't he?'.Another example of the fact that our government is run by sleazeballs.
It's on the beeb news site now.
Bloody disgraceful!
I used to vote for this bunch of bastards, too.
(Note the past tense, won't ever be repeating the error).
Oh dear indeedy - another reshuffler for Monday! Pretty soon there won't be anyone left?
Would the PM survive a vote of no confidence at the moment? Perhaps it's time for Glenda J to strike (as she threatened last year!)
Hain can't sue an MP's comments made in the House - Parliamentary privilege. Despite my inclination to believe the story is probably true, I can't see how Elfyn Llwyd is in any better a position to verify it than I am and Hain does have a point - why didn't Llwyd raise the matter to his face yesterday?
This isn't news - it is just hearsay. We need hard evidence, not some nationalist scrote having a pop for political advantage.
Perhaps fellow visitors to this site would like to send the following letter into Mr Hain?
Dear Mr Hain,
If I promise to not stand at the next election, please would you put my name forward for a peerage.
Yours, etc.
A clip of Llwyd's speech was shown in the Daily Politics program.
Please change that old "the BBC is so biased" record, its getting a bit boring.
Hain reached his level of incompetence messing up cricket pitches.
Does Labour have no other talent ?
"Why would Mrs Law lie?" I'm not for a moment suggesting that she did. But hearsay is hearsay.
Is it inconceivable that Mrs Law would lie in such circumstances? Of course not. Apart from anything else, she is considering standing.
As I said before, the idea that Hain would offer a peerage like that is perfectly believable. I just happen to believe in a principle that Hain and his Labour cohorts do not: innocent until proven guilty. That principle even applies to people with laughably fake tans.
