What is Stephen Pound up to?

What on earth is Labour MP Stephen Pound up to? Last week he was touring the TV studios saying what a good chap Charles Clarke was and how he must stay, yet yesterday he was on the nation's media calling into question John Prescott's future. No-one in the broadcasting media mentioned the fact that Pound is a Home Office PPS. Surely he wouldn't be trying to deflect attention away from Clarke onto Prescott would he? Perish the thought. But as a PPS the only way he would be allowed to do this is he was licensed to do so by the whips. Stranger and stranger, said Alice.

Keep the focus on the Prescott story, which is one of personal failings. Try and get everyone to forget the Clarke thing which is about government incompetence.

Its not beyond reason that they might do such a thing.

Yeah, I spotted this too. Pound has the cheeky chappy act down pat, he's quite useful for these kind of errands.

I wonder what Prescott makes of a Home Office PPS blabbing to the media that he should resign just in order to take the heat off his own boss.

Whenever I see Pound on the telly, I wonder whether he's recruiting more voters for the Tories or for the Libdems.

Backbencher my codpiece. He's Hazel Blear's bag carrier, sorry, PPS.

Nice guy though.
