New Political Drama on TV Tonight

If you enjoyed West Wing, you'll want to see a new American TV series tonight called Commander in Chief. It features Geena Davis as President MacKenzie Allen. The posters are headlined Wife, Mother, Leader so it will no doubt concentrate on some of the steroetypes surrounding female politicians. It got rave reviews when it was first shown in America but I gather it's had some difficult times since. It's being shown on a channel called ABC1 at 9pm - never heard of the channel before but apparently it's on Sky, Cable and Freeview. Read more HERE.

Was this made purely as entertainment, or was it designed to soften up public opinion for President Hillary/President Condoleeza?

I saw Commander in Chief in the US last Autumn and was deeply disappointed.

My view was it plays too heavily on the wimmin thing -- ironically making the Geena Davis character look weak.

It doesn't have an inch of the political nous (big p and small p) of the West Wing.

I gave up after the first episode. Perhaps this was over-hasty, but you can judge for yourself....

Iain - ABC1 only on Freeview until 6pm, and this is on at 9pm. I guess your readers who don't have Sky will have to wait for the More4 debut later this year.
