Economic Stability Before Tax Cuts: Maggie Would Approve

Eamonn Butler at the Adam Smith Institute Blog makes a point about the Cameron strategy on tax custs which hadn't occurred to me. He says

Economic stability and fiscal responsibility before tax cuts. That's
exactly what Mrs Thatcher did – actually raising taxes in the drive to squeeze
out inflation. Only then did taxes start coming down year on year.

He's right. But we all need to make the intellectual case for lower taxes and then ensure that a Conservative government implements it.
