Question of the Day

If, according to Peter Mandelson, Bob Diamond is the unacceptable face of banking, what does that make Peter Mandelson?

Just askin'.

An Oleaginous Oik?

Why has he picked on Bob Diamond, an American who has contributed enormously to UK plc? It's notable that Barclays did not require the government aid that Lloyds and RBS had to rely on.

Much less relaxed than he used to be about people getting filthy rich? (There are a few more answers but this is a family show..)

An idiot? Or possibly just a man in a hole who doesn't know when to stop digging.

I would imagine that the past week has finally exploded the myth of Lord Mortgage the Machiavellian Prince. I don't think there was an occasion when he opened his mouth and didn't sound like a total buffoon.

Power is draining away from this shower, almost visibly so.

Staying with the body theme, the unacceptable arse of government ?

The Question of the Day:

Is Mandelson trying to lose the election for Brown - and to what purpose I wonder?

Mandelson losing the election for Labour is a line the Tories should plug. Put the spotlight on him - cause nobody likes him

How many enemies does Mandelson wish to make? He's tangling with some very powerful organisations - and he's completely outclassed and outgunned. What a fool.

Anyone know how Mandelson has made his money?

Peter Mandelson is the unacceptable faces of corruption, lying and all that is wrong with politics in general.

He's at least three-faced.

Strange that Bob Diamond should be more reprehensible to the increasingly strident and reidiculous Mandelson than people such as his friend Oleg Deripaska, who have stolen their country's natural resources and industries; or, indeed, those like his chum Jake Rothschild, who used inherited wealth to bankroll their activities in shuffling pieces of paper around.

I use to work for Bob Diamond (before he went to Barclays) and found him to be one of the most approachable and understanding managers. Someone that commanded respect and loyalty. He was also bloody good at his job.

All attributes that can't be said of Mandelson.

...well, the remark is a sort of tribute to Ted Heath, isn't it?

Q. What's the difference between Barry Manilow's Mandy and Gordon Brown's Mandy?

A. Manilow's Mandy came and gave without taking.
