Jonah Heads South

* I'm told Jonah Brown will be visiting Hampshire this afternoon to spread good cheer among the emergency services who are doing their best to cope with the snow.

That should guarantee another foot of the white stuff...

* An MP rings to tell me that last night in the House of Commons during the divisions, Speaker Bercow was seen chatting to any number of MPs who were keen to wish him a Happy New Year. A succession of Labour, LibDem and minority party MPs stopped by the Speaker's Chair to engage him in a chat. Only one Conservative MP did so, adding further fuel to the rumours that all is not well in relations between the Speaker and the Opposition.

Good! Trouble is the little twat will get made a peer won't he?

God help Hampshire today, If I prayed they'd be in my thoughts...the carnage!

Oh crap, it's bad enough here without the curse of Jonah upon us!

Oh no!. Please tell me he will not arrive in Portsmouth. It's bad enough already with only the major routes cleared.

If Aaron Sorkin was scripting this cold snap...
Gordon Brown would do a national broadcast tonight at 6pm saying that he's getting emergency supplies of grit organised; telling elderly people he's decided to double the cold weather payment so 'don't stint on the heating granny'; telling rough sleepers that he's opening up some empty Govt office buildings for them on an emergency basis etc etc.
In other words he'd act as a national leader - virtually the only advantage he currently has over Cameron is that Gordon Brown IS currently PM - so make use of it.

(Obviously the weakness in this idea is that Gordon Brown is, erm, not in any way Jed Bartlett).
