Ten O'Clock News Gives Incorrect Welsh Result
The Ten O'Clock News on the BBC just carried the results of the elections today. It had some graphics which purported to show us that the Conservatives won twelve seats in the Welsh Assembly elections, which was billed as NO CHANGE. Incorrect. It was an increase of one. Sloppy.

It's happening all over.
Chitern FM said that the Lib Dems had held Stevenage. I was pretty shocked. They never had Stevenage. It was good to heat them correct it later.
I guess the difference is Chiltern FM is a small station which has 6 songs. The BBC should know better.
I bet no-open mentioned that the Tories have moved into second place in Wales either.

How much real power do our local authorities actually have? Doesn't SEEDA and our "friends" in Brussels have more say of what goes on in Tunbridge Wells and Margate than local elections?
The Conservative no change mistake has just been repeated again on Newsnight!
Farcical that they can't even get the basic facts right.
But does anyone remember when the Welsh could drive from South to North Wales without leaving Conservative parliamentary territory?-now that that's what you call a breakthrough!

Tories into second place in Wales? In what sense is that Chris A? The system is the system and to be honest Tories don't want to change it. So saying you're second when you're third on seats is silly.

On changing the system or not, I'm not sure.
It's worth noting though that a thousand vote PC->Con swing in Mid Wales, and in South Wales West, as well as a 150 vote PC-> Con swing in North Wales or South Wales East.
would have given the Tories 16 seats and Plaid only 11.
So it's fair to say the Tories are the second party of Wales, but so also are Plaid.

See my comment on ConHome at something past midnight (just now) also about bizarre behaviour on Newsnight re balance of interviewees and a graphic (sort of) showing the Conservatives in fourth in Scottish seats when we were one ahead. Forgive my lack of energy in not repeating full details here.

Yeah, i noticed that Londoner. Newsnight got the numbers correct, but the graphic was wrong.
Just found the Telegraph online (Sat 7.39am) also says no change for the Tories in Wales.
Funny how you dont knock the Telegraph, but enjoy joining the Murdoch "let's bash the BBC" convoy.

Par for the course these days, sadly. The days when people tended to believe things, because they'd heard them on the BBC, are long gone.
There is far too much apparent 'sloppiness' by the BBC which invariably favours nulab.
Were the substantial and highly disproportionate number of BNP supporter' postings on BBC's Have Your Say voting intentions topic prior to the election due to mere sloppiness? Or was it a wake up call by the BBC, an attempt to create a 'moral panic', in order to persuade disaffected nulab supporters to vote for nulab?
The proportion of have your say BNP contributors on Have Your Say bore no relation to the proportion of votes polled by the BNP.
The BBC needs to explain why it gave the BNP such prominence.

No it is correct - based upon rallings and thresher's notional 2003 results on current boundaries the Tories made no increase.
Which shows how stupid the electoral system is.
