Reid Will now be the Bearer of Bad News

Earlier today the Lord Chancellor Charlie Falconer ruled an announcement from the new Ministry of Justice that 3,000 prisoners would be let out of jail early. Expect the announcement to come instead from the now lame duck Home Secretary.

Could this have been the decision which precipitated Reid's departure? The last straw, perhaps?

It's reported by him that he has "had 9 jobs in 10years". made a fistful of naff ups at all of them, is my opinion. Lets hope and not dispair that the Home office will be his last. Ever!!

Please forgive the bad manners of being off-topic, but there seems to be nowhere else to address this.

Blair has announced that before he goes (if ever) he is going to hand over the keys to the UK to the EU as his final act of constitutional vandalism in his final days as a lame quack-quack.

Trumpeter or someone has a knowledge of constitutional law (which will be rendered null and void after Tony turns us over) is there nothing that can be done to stop him?

I have felt a coup d'état in the air for some time now ...

Sorry Verity, I know nothing of constitutional law. How sickening that Peter Hain's arrogant comment, "You can put away your placards, because there isn't going to be a referendum", proves to be true after all.

It is not generally known that under existing arrangements (never mind this new announcement) a defendant sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment only spends three months in prison.

A good day to bury bad news?

"Reid pre-announces resignation" is a better headline than

"Home Office releases 3,000 prisoners early"

Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime.

A very good question, verity, I read about this earlier and I'm furious too. My question is what will the Conservatives do to stop that wretched traitor doing this?

Re verity's very good point (yes, for it is I!)on the EU Constitution. Surely Blair does not have the power to personally sign up the UK to yet another Treaty without it being approved by Parliament? Especially if it circumvents a referendum on handing further power to johnny foreigner?

If that was the case, forget riots on the streets of Paris, there would be mayhem all over the country!
