As a Newt...
Is anyone watching the Daily Politics? Dianne Abbott is three sheets to the wind. Public service broadcasting at its best!
Old Brillo pad said as much...
Do you mean This Week? You don't mean people actually like that programme do you?
It is without a doubt the worst programme on television. It is the same every week. Neill says something toe-curlingly unfunny then hands over to Portillo and Abbott who say something oily and stupid respectively. Then we are treated to some inane BS from Mardell wearing a ridiculous cast-off from a 1980s costume drama. Then some dull guest who nobody has heard of comes on and does an item which does nothing other than prove exactly why we have never heard of them. Then the guest sits on a sofa and get serially patronised by the three amigos. Then Abbott tries to cop a feel of Portillo, Neill makes the same deeply unfunny joke he made earlier and the whole ludicrous spectacle is over for another week.
The only way in which it performs a public service is by reminding anybody with half a brain what a fine man and broadcasting genius Vincent Hanna was.
Sorry. One of my pet subjects.
Can somebody tell me what happened - I missed it - was out on the town.
James, your description made me scream with laughter-Dianne trying to cop a feel! Of course, it does make me rather jealous I must admit!
James, I agree with you 100%. The programme is dumbing down of the worst variety and whatever one's views on Andrew Neill, the Abbott/Portillo combination is a joke.
I remember shedding a tear when I heard Vincent Hanna died. He must be turning in his grave.
Lady F, you little minx, you. I'm afraid I have just been physically sick at the very thought of you and Portillo. Robb will be green with envy, you know...
I will write to "Points of View" and suggest that they replace Abbott and Portillo with Dale and Lamb. Lady Finchley can compere and I will do the Mardell schtick.
You and Norman would have to undertake to keep your hands to yourselves, of course. Replacing the sofa with two well upholstered leather armchairs may be a sensible precaution.
I think I can speak for Norman when I say that we would both find it very difficult to keep our hands off Lady F. You would be safe though.
Right, having spent the morning viewing sewerage in Walcott I must dash off to West Runton... Think I'll skip lunch. Slightly lost my appetite.
I enjoy reading your blog, but it would make things much easier if you could switch on the RSS feed so people can subscribe using tools like Bloglines.
Dave, Glad you like it. I don't know what an RSS feed is and how I switch it on - could you email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and give me the details?
Iain, do you mind if I ask you a totally off-topic question. You are going for a quite an innovative campaign, and I noticed that this features 'campaign t-shirts' - which are a very good idea.
My question is: do t-shirts promoting a candidate require an 'imprint' at election time?
Yes you do. Anything printed or published relating to the election has to have an imprint.
From your blogs, Iain, you do seem to be a very self-righteous, egotistic man. Maybe this is not the way that you are, or maybe it just come from being a Tory. What ever you are like, you do not put yourself across as a compasionate man. The greatest quality looked for in a politician is, I believe, compassion or atleast a sense of care for the people. Put the people first. But then why am I helping you? I don't want a Tory MP. And Tories seem to stuck up anyway- you'd never even listen to your own. Good luck with life anyhow!
Anonymous, I'm sorry you think that. Perhaps if you had read my posts on Rebecca House you might have come to a slightly different conclusion - or the two members of Fathers for Justice whose stories reduced me to tears.
Dave, I have switched the RSS feed on. What does this actually mean? !
