Millbank is now closed due to a gas leak. The road between Parliament Square and Lambeth Bridge is also closed. Please remain clear of the area.Our intern has just been out to get a sandwich and there really is a strong smell of gas outside, especially around 4 Millbank, which has been evacuated. The Police reckon that's where the leak is coming from. Well, it is home to all the political broadcast media, so fill in your own punchline. Let's blame the Russians. Usually best, where gas supply is concerned.

Presumably the Met will be there shortly in order to arrest (but not charge) the gas (for leaking) and all those present in the Media Centre (for being in receipt of the leak).
Shame they've banned smoking.
