Colouring the World Red

I just stumbled across a SITE where you can 'map' the countries you have visited in the world. The countries in red are the ones I have been to. It certainly brought home to me how much more of the world I have to see. I've never been to Africa, South America or the Far East. There's just never enough time. In the 1980s and 1990s I went abroad three or four times a year but in the last few years I haven't travelled very much at all. Compiling these maps has made me think a lot about where I'd really like to go.

You really should experience India, Sri Lanka, Veitnam, Cambodia and Thailand at least once before you die!

For God's sake, don't bother wasting your time on any more of the US - go and see South America, the Far East and Africa.

You better get your travelling done now. When Zac becomes Environment Minister all Tory Ministers will be carrying out their duties by horse and cart.

I've been to 52 countries (two are airport only) and 38 US states (and the District of Columbia). Some of the countries are a little strange - why are the Channel Islands different from the UK but Hong Kong and Macau counted with China?

Try Poland - especially Krakow and the south of the country.

Spend a morning at Auschwitz-Birkenau, it puts any little problems you may have into perspective.

Is it really just me who thinks when you colour in Norway it makes Sweden look like a drooping penis?

Seriously though, I'd try Japan and South Africa...

In America, I enjoyed Texas and Mississippi.

If you get the chance the Croatian coast is beautiful. And India is wonderful to visit, but be prepared for everyone in the street to try and sell you something!

pj - since we're on a "mine's bigger than yours" kick: I've visited 49 countries - it goes up to 52 if I add in airport-only - plus 49 out of 50 states in the US. And the map doesn't include Antarctica, which I could colour red if it did, making 53. So there.
But seriously, Iain, thanks for introducing me to this site. And please go to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam as soon as you can - they're great places.

Looks too much like a communist land grab for my liking.

As an Oregonian, I am very glad to see you have visited us way out here.

I don't really blame you for passing on the South, but I have to admit it: one cannot truly understand the United States without knowledge of the South in the same way that one cannot truly understand Canada without knowledge of Quebec....

Red is an excellent choice of colour for the countries you've infiltrated. Way to go, Comrade Iain!
