Adam Rickitt on Tory Radio

Jonathan Sheppard has a four part Podcast interview with Adam Rickitt on Tory Radio which you can download HERE. It's well worth listening to. For the Adam Rickitt doubters out there, you might be pleasantly surprised by what you hear.

he's certainly not pithy is he?
fair game though, not as a terrible as i feared.
although a "long-standing commitment" of 2 years must be a sore spot for those who have worked hard for the party for decades.

Could he have said 'you know?' more often?

Nothing against Adam - but would sooner have you and Jonathan on the A-list due to your record in the party.

You both better start working on your pecks. Although I REALLY don't need to see either of you semi-naked in a shower.

Do you think anyone will chose Adam, because of the negitive that will come with it ? I think he will end up being the fall guy for the A-list who nobody chooses.

Problem with rickitt is he may look good to woman & gays but when he open's his mouth he talks bollocks!!!

I think he needs some coaching in the political sphere - I think he may well be a good MP in the future, take my advice adam read a few books on ideology and modern politics and do a regan and write some thought provoking essays.

Adam's problem is one - people are jelous- i can see why but to be honest they are the ones less electable than him. two - In politics saying nothing is sometimes as good as chipping in - that comment on well off people paying to go private rather than using NHS while honerable in it's intention will not do much good.
Beacause he is recognised for his non political roles he needs to develope a political persona - the essays would be good and should shut up the arses.

not very much. A bit better than on QT, but if it's one of your best candidates, well, I don't dare to think about who was rejected.

To be honest Anon (4) I don't think that reading books about modern political philosophy will be a help to Adam - or to many would-be MPs. Too many candidates from all parties are political nerds who know all about the philosophy of politics but nothing about what the actual job of an MP is.

2 years isn't a long standing commitment but rather than becoming yet another politics bore I would suggest that he (and anyone on the A list) spends more time knocking on doors, carrying out surveys and finding out what constituents need help with. I would rather a candidate who was on the streets every week talking to local voters rather than cooped up at home, writing essays which only appealed to the geek audience.

Louise:writing essays which only appealed to the geek audience.

That's the point Louise the geeks are the ones moaning! That is exactly they type of people has to engage with to get them to stopgiving him grief. I would say he is anything but a geek at the moment.

Been an MP is about empowering your electors in the realm of Edmund Burke’s 1774 speech, sorry to be a geek but the interesting point with regard to Bromley is exactly the slant that eric forth had.............................

When i referred to books on ideology this was seperate to modern british politics. Ideology in some respects is a busted flush however one can frame the current debate in political circles through the intelectual impetus of the problems that face people.

I would say that alot of the current crop of tory mop's are bone ideal and have complained as such to the people who count! Quite often it is these people the people moaning loadly about the A - list who abuse parliament and constiencies the most. My argument with the A-list is democratic in that the party membership needs too change as much as the candidate list.

P.S> Louise said "rather than becoming yet another politics bore" - what do you expect them to do shove feathers up their bottom and sing god save the queen??? Knocking on doors does help but only if you serve up a dish the punters want - I vote tory but some of the idiots i see sometimes would be told cough on my door - they know nothing of real life.

Am I the only person here who thinks that comment is insufferable?

In other words, "He may look good to the little people who are too silly and fluffy to think a problem through" but when he opens his mouth, that's when the real men have to step in and make some judgements.

Women are as interested in the economy, our national identity, which Tony Blair has malignantly unpicked, our education system, our economy, funding our military, immigration laxity, overwhelming crime and our future as are all those great big grown up men out there.

I have never had a gay friend who was less than well-informed politically and I've never known one who would vote for a pretty gay boy over a substantial, seasoned and effective politician.

I mean, what planet are you living on, Anonymous? Do you really think women would vote for a faggot (sorry to my gay friends, but I use the term advisedly in this instance) who had posed naked in a bathtub, to represent their interests and their family's interests in Parliament? Are you mad?

Same question re gays? Vote for a real politician with savvy, nous, experience and a solid track record of getting things done that I want done, or vote for a drag queen. Hmmmmm, tough choice there.

I wouldn't vote for this Adam Sweetiecakes if he were standing in my constituency. I'd stay home.

My god! The condescension of it all!

if you can't recognise when someone is taking a stand against a whole range of prejudices, then I suggest you remove the Anti-Nazi-League posters from your bedroom wall. Along with the model aeroplanes hanging from the ceiling. Halfwit.

Fair point - however what i meant to say is the tory membership who are predominatly male or old woman are not going to take well to what they see as an upstart - the only qualities they can see is youthfulness and good looks.

I remember when blair came along people thought him good looking and some people were shallow enough - Ugly people unfortunatly have a built in barrier were as attractive people don't. I simply highlighted the appeal rickett had and the following he has i.e the gay poster.

It just goes to show how insuler you politico's can be - the last three elections have been policy light and more than likely the next one will as well. MP's only represent their own interest because believe me when i have lobbied my local MP unless it is something that he agrees with or is supportive of labour they are not interested.

If anyone has problems it is you claiming to have gay friends and then ranting on about "faggots" - unlike you i do not care what people do with each other and it is none of my business.
