Archer Warns Boris of Livingstone's 'Dirty Tricks'
Star interviewer Rob McGibbon has conducted a fascinating interview with Jeffrey Archer over at AccessInterviews.com. I've posted a clip from it in the video box over on the right, but for the whole thing, click HERE. Archer says he thinks Boris will lose (although it was recorded a month ago, so maybe he's changed his mind) and warns him that Livingstone will put up a dirty fight. I think we're already seeing the beginnings of that.

Is this a joke? Remind me of the one who has been convicted of lying again?
It is not dirty to say what your opponent has said. I like Ken and Boris. But why do the Boris camp want to bring this campaign down to private life and racism it is pretty obvuious who would do better anyway. Boris is hardly Gahndi is he.
I'm surprised that no-one has asked where Ken was on Sunday? His smarmy smile has been stuck all over the Olympics, but at a major Olympic event he was no where to be seen.
Surely it's not because he doesn't want to upset a oppressive military regime on the brink of wiping out an entire culture?
A man who is often spending our money visiting 'revolutionary' leaders in Cuba and Venezuela.
A man who invites speakers (at our expense) from all over the World to debate human rights.
A man who funds receptions for antiwar protests.
A man bravely takes on the American embassy at every turn.
In Paris the city hall has a sign up saying that human rights is important. In London a Mayor who has wrapped himself in the plight of the oppressed and the Olympic flag was nowhere to be found.
There is a word for that, actually come to think of it two - hypocritical coward.
How can you claim Boris does not fight dirty when he has Crosby as his campaign man. With all respect grow up tories. Ken and Boris are as dirty as eachother. I like Ken and Boris, but please do not tell me that Boris is some would not hurt fly type he can fight dirty look at the video of him hacking down a German player.
Dirty European Socialist - "Why do the Boris camp want to bring this campaign down to private live and racism ..."?
Because Shagger Livingstone talks obessively about his opponents' private lives and panders to the racist quangoes. Isn't his latest girlfriend, the Amnesty International girl and mother of one of his five children, one of them?
"But why do the Boris camp want to bring this campaign down to private life and racism it is pretty obvuious who would do better anyway."
It is Livingstone who has fixated his campaign on racism, remember all the group letters by various race baiting groups (funded by the Mayor's office) denouncing Boris Johnson? I agree thought that it is obvious who does better on that ground though, and it isn't the guy with a record of jew baiting as long as your arm.
Iain,
Thank you for posting this.
Over the entire interview Lord Archer spoke with humility and wisdom; Rob McGibbon's probed artistically, placing the most pertinent questions; and, needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing.
I would refer you to 'The Rise of Political Lying' (2005) by Peter Oborne pp 22-3, and ask why any comment made by Archer should be taken seriously by anyone?
I can't see Boris being delighted to see his name linked with Archer's in the mind of the undecided voter.
Ken Livingstone is indeed revolting and unscrupulous, but there must be better ways than this of getting the message across.
Pot calling the kettle black.
lease drop the "we" Jeffery when referring to us conservatives
