Has the FOI Bill Been Killed Off?
LibDem MP John Hemming is reporting that Lord Trefgarne has withdrawn his sponsorhip of David Maclean's FOI Bill in the House of Lords. This strikes me as improbably, although very welcome. Can anyone shed any light on it?
That's what Tom McNally said on one of the Breakfast news shows Tuesday or Wednesday morning. But he didn't seem so certain that that meant it was dead in the water. He was assuming that someone might sponsor it and that he would be putting down the motion to deny it at second reading still.
There seemed to be some issue as to whether the Tory peers would find a sponsor and then table some important amendments or just let it drop.

I hope Trefgarne has had enough sense to do so. His father would have never sponsored it.
According to a poster on the PFoI Facebook Group, the Lords Public Bill Office have confirmed that it is still looking for a sponsor.
According to the parliamentary website, the Bill has had its First Reading in the Lords and been ordered to be printed.
