Five New Blogs For the Sidebar

I've just added five blogs to my sidebar. Biteback is the blog of my publishing company, Tory Radio should have been on it anyway, Mark Reckons is one of the best LibDem blogs on the net (but the design, ugh), Ashley Crossley is a good friend of mine who stood for the Conservatives in 2005 and a tax lawyer (God forgive him) and Mark Wallace will be familiar to many of you as the voice of the Taxpayers' Alliance, who he left last week for pastures anew.

UPDATE: And I can exlusively reveal that Nadine Dorries has resurrected her dormant blog. She tells me she will be posting "spasmodically".

Nadine Responds to the Telegraph

The Telegraph is publishing yet another raft of allegations against MPs tomorrow. I suspect they will soon have reached the limit of their readers' patience.

Nadine got an email from them this afternoon and has chosen to publicly answer each question on her blog, which rather spikes the Telegraph's guns. Read what she has to say HERE.

UPDATE 11.30pm: Having read through the comments perhaps I should explain what I meant by "spiking the Telegraph's guns". I meant that she had slightly spoilt their story by publishing it, and her reaction before they did. And I do think their readers will soon tire of this constant stream of allegations. That is not to say they are wrong to print any more, but their editorial team will be very conscious that at some stage they will reach a tipping point.

UPDATE Saturday 9am: Nadine has posted again, giving more details of her living arrangements. Click HERE.

Nadine Calls in the Lawyers

Nadine Dorries has decided to sue over the Damian McBride emails. She has posted a slightly cryptic post on her blog which is headlined JUST FOR THE RECORD...
I have instructed and proceeded with legal action. Obviously, I am not going to say anything at all at this stage, other than that.

Think about the implications if this ever came to court. Think about who would be called as witnesses. And I am not just talking about the obvious.

Sunny Hundal & Nadine Owe Each Other An Apology

On 9 June, Sunny Hundal of Liberal Conspiracy made a complaint to the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner, accusing Tory MP Nadine Dorries of using public funds to pay for her blog. He wrote a 21 page submission of evidence.

Last week, Nadine posted on her blog saying that she had been completely cleared of any wrongdoing. Presumably, Hundal also received a letter from the PSC informing him of the decision. I have waited a few days to see if he might do us the honour of posting about it on Liberal Conspiracy, and maybe apologising to Nadine for the smear. But not a bit of it. He's remained silent on the matter. Just for the record, here's what the finding said...

The position is that no Parliamentary resources have been used to fund Mrs Dorries' weblog. Questions about whether its content is consistent with the rules in relation to Parliamentary funding do not therefore arise... No further action on any point is required, and therefore consider your complaint now closed.

The funny thing is that Nadine has accused Sunny of something far worse than what he accused her of. In her blogpost she accuses him of being a Liberal Democrat. Perhaps she should apologise to him too. Group hug, anyone?

Nadine Accuses Cameron's Advisers of Hanging Willetts & Letwin Out to Dry

Conservative MP Nadine Dorries made an extraordinary allegation on 18 Doughty Street tonight that the Cameron inner circle is hanging Oliver Letwin and David Willetts out to dry. I won't interpret her words here as you can hear them direct from her below and she will be blogging about it herself tomorrow morning, but she is clearly furious that the education policy commission, on which she sits, has been pre-empted by the Willetts speech today. She said Tory MPs from all parts of the party are incandescent about today's events and David Willetts had a very uncomfortable time at the 1922 Committee. Is Straw Stalking Nadine?

For the second week in a row, Jack Straw has quoted from Nadine's blog in Business Questions. She reckons he's becoming her cyber stalker. Obviously missing Condi...

Go Girl!

From Nadine Dorries's blog...
I joined a group of ten women Conservative candidates for dinner last night
- a fun evening. Our new lot are very intelligent, feisty, principled and
gorgeous. I had to do to do the usual move a few places in between courses
thing. The last time I did that was at a party fundraiser, just before David
became leader. I was sat on a table with ten businessmen. On my last musical
chairs shift, as I sat down, the man I sat next to introduced himself by saying
"so Nadine, tell me, what do you prefer, sex or politics" I replied -"sex of
course, but unlike you, I prefer it with someone else".

I expect he ended up made a large donation.

Eating on the Job

Another gem from the Blog of Nadine Dorries MP...

David Burrowes, the lovely and always happy MP for Enfield Southgate and
his wife are expecting baby number 6!!! David and I sometimes chat in the lobby
during voting and he is always entertaining – never so entertaining as he was
last night though! I was riveted to the green bench whilst he regaled me with
the latest antics of Dougal Burrowes, his little boy, (no 3 in descending
order).

Dougal has a pet lizard, it’s called James ‘bonkers’ Burrowes. In James’ cage, to keep him company, was a rather frisky, in the true adult sense of the word, fully grown, rather large, gender challenged, sexually frustrated cricket.

The cricket made many advances to the lizard, but all to no avail, and eventualy, the cricket decided to just go for it, and he did, went for it, literally. Having navigated his way onto the lizard, (gosh I don’t know how to put this delicately but I am sure you get the picture), and just as he reached the point of no return, the lizard turned
around opened his mouth and ate him in one – whilst Dougal and David watched as
spectators and looked at each other in some surprise. Surprise because although
a predator, this had up until now, been one very lazy and laid back lizard.

Who said the female of the species was more deadly than the male? What lesson did Dougal learn from this tableau? Better than any he will get in a PSE lesson in school I reckon!

Just not cricket eh?

A Conservative MP with BlogBalls

As I have said before, you don't get many more entertaining blogs than that of Conservative MP Nadine Dorries. Today she writes about Sir Patrick Cormack...
His local Conservative association have de-selected him, which means he will be unable to stand again as a Conservative MP, despite having achieved a 9.4% swing during the last election, one of the largest in the country. It has gone to a vote of the members, and I believe we have to
await their decision. South Staffordshire Conservatives should be ashamed of themselves. I am disgusted. Sir Patrick has said that he will stand next time as an independent, and if he does, I would help him and canvass for him against the selected Conservative candidate, without hesitation and regardless of what ‘you will never be given a job’ threats will be thrown at me by the whips.
Gulp. She's right though.
UPDATE WED: The Indy Diary today has a story following up Nadine's post. Nadine says: "Francis Maude should be sorting out the local Association". I would submit that this is the very last thing he should be doing and if he tried it would foment even more trouble. Sir Patrick tells the Indy: "I've even had generous offers for a war chest if I do go independent." I doubt whether Sir Patrick is a reader of this blog, but he should know one thing. He has many people who feel sympathy for him at the moment. But any further mention of the possibility of standing as an Independent is not very constructive and will start losing him a lot of support. I hope someone will tell him to button it.
