Hannan Makes the MSM ... In America

Fox News's Neil Kavuto interviews Dan Hannan about his Youtube video and his views on the current crisis. I wonder when a British TV broadcaster might get around to doing the same. 330,000 views and counting.

Presumably whenever Britain acquires a broadcaster of the same quality and integrity as Fox.

Just gave the BBC website a final check for any recent mention of Hannan. Nothing, of course. Most viewed story: '60-ft penis painted on roof.'

Nation shall speak penis unto nation.

For once I agree completely with Jimmy. I'm longing for that day too.

I loved the video -- I put a copy of it up on my site!

Hannan ... telling it like it is!

It is not the function of the BBC to promote the views of the Conservative Party.

The function of the BBC (at least in my lifetime) has been to promote the views (and interests) of middle class Labour/Liberal voters.

Why as a Conservative voter would you expect the BBC to articulate your opinion? You are the enemy. It would be like going into a vegetarian restaurant and ordering a ham sandwich.

As a result of the unique way they are funded the BBC do not have to care what Tory voters believe, nor do they, and nor will they, ever.

The Left wants a free society about as much you want a hole in the head.

Your function is to pay their bills.

Wild, that is one of the best summations of the current culture in the BBC and its attitudes.

Unfortunately that will not happen as any broadcaster attempting to do a Fox in the UK would be smothered by the "balanced" view demands of the establishment and the PC brigade. It's the price you pay for not having a proper constitution guaranteeing freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Further, the situation is going to get even worse as we are smothered by the embrace of the EUSSR and it's one party state attitude and central committee dictates.

tachybapt above....

the 'penis mightier than the sword' or something like that...

...and maybe in this case the 'viral video is mightier than the lumpen media.'

If no broadcaster shall pick up on this, then I shall continue to promote it.

hannan makes a fabulous addition to any facebook page uwith the introduction 'what the bbc won't show you'

apologies for lower case - am on mobile...

Iain,

Why not make a point of pointing this out to every MSM/deadtree hack you come across, when you meet a beeboid comrade why not ask them why the BBC decided to censor it?
When you appear on the BBC make a point of mentioning it again and again on air as many times as you can and urge any Tory you can to do the same!
Shame the BBC into backing down, highlight their partisan and soviet censorship at every turn and take the fight to them.

Aprt from the media coverage, the video shows up (i) what a poor job the Conservative frnt nbench are doing in getting the same message across and (ii) what a poor forum Westminster is for serious debate on highly political subjects. It is hard to see the same points being made in Westminster without being drowned in shouting.

NB: The two points are not necessarily unrelated.

Not sure it ever will in the context of the speech. The runaway success of the video might be considered newsworthy on a station like Sky News. Doesn't the problem lie with Ofcom and its regulatory requirements? How could a broadcaster possibly 'balance' the Hannan "Shout heard around the world"?

Where is Mr Cameron and Mr Osbourne?

Dan Dare has done a great job of skewering the PM but where is the follow though from the Tory front bench??

Labour are a complete open goals drowning in sleaze, sex stories and a walking one-man disaster area and I haven't heard more than a peep from them.

I despair!

wv myxesses - is that what happens when the excesses get confused?

I have just sent a complaint to the BBC just BECAUSE they have NOT been balanced in their presentation. In fact it is a gross violation of their prescribed duty.

I don't buy this "blame OFCOM" as I'm pretty sure the Cameron spoof made on the MSM.

All thats required is to show the video, and then have some talking heads from all parties discuss it. That should satisfy balance.

strapworld said...

Is the fact that Hannan has a differing view on the EU to Cameron, that the Leader of the Conservative Party has not even mentioned it.

Now a real Leader, realising just how important that speech has become, would either be in Brussels now or have Hannan over here now for a press conference where he, Cameron, could endorse every single word Hannan said.

But because Hannan has a view, that coincides with over 55% of the British People, Cameron and the Conservative Front Bench are silent!

Do they want to win?

Eckersalld said...

Hmmmm.

I could swear there were several links to Hannan video on Nick Robinsons blog, they now appear to have disappeared.

It's one thing not to report it on the news, but when you start removing legitimate links from the blogs, that really makes the beeb look bad.

It seems to me that the UK Drive-By Media have pulled the lid over their own coffin with this one.

They must presume that they still call the shots, though with this performance perhaps they should be dodging them.

Hannan where he belongs ... alongside extremists and cranks.

The BBC is now like a defunct religion, relying upon a rump of fanatics and couch potatoes to prop it up.

Do not worship there!

Stop paying your licence fees!

Stop rushing to the BBC as your first port of call!

The Hannan video is viral. In case anybody does not understand the implications, a virus is unable to grow outside a host cell. There are now millions of freindly hosts, also known as bloggers. And it is now in the interests of democracy that you caught the bug.

Can you imagine the BBC giving any politician 15 minutes of airtime, and what's more, without continually interrupting him/her? Kavuto actually apologised for inadvertently talking across Hannan because of the time lag in the transmission.

US TV comes in for a lot of flack, but from my (admittedly limited) experience of watching news channels in the States, they strike me as more serious, less confrontational and therefore more informative.

I love the way they place him as a future PM! But hell, I'd vote for him when Cameron's time is up!

Hannan for PM!

Faux News is the most dishonest so-called news organisation on the planet; and that includes those in totalitarian regimes.

I recommend “Bill O’Reilly is a big fat Liar” by the now junior Senator from Minnesota. It’s a laugh

Jimmy said...

It was always pretty bad but since the election it has now, as they say, jumped the shark completely. It's gone from merely outrageous bias to a jawdropping freakshow. Hannan may be the most normal person to appear since Christmas.
