To Number 10 for the reception on the eve of the Queen's Speech. The Man [Blair] made only a brief appearance and told a lovely little story about the computer course he is taking. Students are apparently tested repeatedly to see how they are getting on and Tony kept failing. He noticed that the young man at the neighbouring terminal was getting extremely agitated. 'Am I making you nervous?' he asked. 'No,' the lad replied. 'What's the matter then?' 'Ot's because you keep failing these tests and I keep passing - and I've been unemploued for 18 months and you're the Prime Minister.'
Should you have nothing better to do on Thursday 12 March, I will be hosting AN EVENING WITH CHRIS MULLIN at the Stratford Theatre (in association with the Newham Bookshop). I'll be interviewing Chris about his diaries and then he'll be taking questions from audience.
Tickets are only £5 and can be booked HERE.
You can pre-order A View from the Foothills HERE.

Blair used that one a lot. Heard it many times.
I am no fan of T. Blair, but can you imagine Gordon Brown telling such a self-deprecating story?
It speaks volumes about Blair's "socialist" credentials that he can retell a story about an unemployed person apparently oblivious to his plight.
