Nick Boles Pulls Out of Mayoral Race

I'm very sad to have to report that Nick Boles has pulled out of the London mayoral race due to having to undergo treatment for cancer. It's been caught early so he stands an excellent chance of making a full recovery, but obviously his health takes precedence over his political and professional life. I've just spoken to Nick and he is in good spirits but he faces a tough few months. I hope all of you will join me in wishing Nick all the best in his fight against this dreadful disease.

Shocked to hear that Nick Boles has cancer and wish him the best for a speedy and complete recovery. He was my ward councillor for a year and made one of the best speeches to Westminster Council, after the nailbomb attack in 1999.

Gutted...he was the best chance we had at beating Livingstone.
Wish Nick a speedy recovery

Best wishes Nick - perhaps you need to move to Scotland so you can get the treatment you need?

Yes, Get Well Soon, but most of all Get Well Properly before getting back in the saddle again.

All the best Nick. I wish you well, even though I don't personally know you.

That is dreadful news. Actually I thought Nick Boles was wrong for London and bad for Cameron because of his background and insiderness. He was certainly a serious candidate though and there are few.
Now I just feel terribly sorry for him .He must be so frustrated at this stage to have to put life on hold.

Best of luck NB.

anonymous @ 11:29am. How disgusting that you're willing to use someone elses illness to pursue your own racist agenda.

Shame on you and let's hope you never have to undergo such an illness yourself.

Anonymous 11.29 said nothing...Anonymous 2.12 - are you a bit of a thicko or what?

Very sad news.
Interesting to note that you, Guido and the Londoner's Diary all fail to point out that you know this because he has posted it on his own website. That in itself is interesting I'd have thought. Gonea re the days of these things being shrouded in secrecy. And rather than being thanks to a blogger or a journalist, it's at the decision of the politician himself.

Actually, I know it because he is a good friend of mine and phoned me to tell me.

Poor old chap! Wouldn't wish this on anyone!

'I know because he's a good friend...'
This just isn't true is it? I accept you know him well enough to have put in the call. But he announced it on his site; then you spoke.

Anonymous, you really are scraping the barrell. If you want to accuse me of lying then do so openly and put a name to your post.

I was in a car driving to London when he called me. I then blogged it from my blackberry. I have never even looked at his website.

He also called Tim Montgomerie of ConservativeHome.

Instead of making completely groundless accusations perhaps your time might be better spent wishing the guy well.
