The Friday Ad Treat

These are the four classic ads starring Joan Collins and the late, great Leonard Rossiter for Cinzano Bianco. Wonderful stuff.

Terrific stuff Iain, each one a classic. Makes you realise that they were probably all shot at around the same time, not as remembered appearing over a much long period on the tele.

That chap Guido has some catching up to do, if you continue to find these little gems.

More power to you elbow I say!

Bloggers block again Iain, or just to busy living life.

I nominate DC for the lead role in the remake of

"You're never alone with a Strand"

and

ANN WIDECOMBE TO DO THE SHAKE 'N' VAC

Casting agents were probably overwhelmed by her beauty and thought she should only do drama, but Joan Collins always had a light touch with comedy. I like her little Diary pieces in The Speccie, too, if they're still running them. I don't read The Speccie any more.

Love the sophistication.

I am told that when Rossiter was making these adverts he habitually referred to Joan Collins as "the prop". Unfortunately this was not a pleasantry, merely a reflection of his own self-importance. A pity, since on screen he was a very funny man.

Trumpeter Lanfried - Unbelievable that anyone would refer to Joan Collins as 'the prop' given what a witty actress she was (and probably is, as I believe she is still working). As far as I can see from these commercials, he was the straight man "I say, I say, I say".
