...you're facing calls for your resignation over lurid affairs and you find out that Max Clifford is addressing the Parliamentary Press Gallery lunch today. It makes you almost feel sorry for John Prescott. Almost. My invitation seems to have got lost in the post...

For once, I hope sewer rat Clifford doesn't choke! However, I still thank that, with the exception of the Labour spin machine, he is the country's greatest single threat to a free press - because he makes it into laughing stock and motivates people to 'tell all' for all the wrong reasons! Or maybe I am just a sad old dreamer?
It's a sad day when the current undistinguished Chairman of the Lobby thinks Clifford deserves an invitation.
Last month Chris Meyer plugged his book and now the rat-like Clifford is telling the Lobby he knows where the bodies are buried.
