Questions to a 'Useless Tory Tosser'

Former Labour PPC for Shrewsbury and blogger Mike Ion has invited me to answer questions from his blog readers. As Mike puts it: "I was inundated with questions and sent Iain what I thought was a representative sample. Some funny ones, some perceptive ones and some downright offensive ones. Iain has insisted that he answer them all and that I did not edit his answers."

I particularly enjoyed this non question... I want to ask Ian dale fuck all becuase he is a uselss Tory tosser and you should be reported for giving him a platform to air his right wing views.

Take a deep breath and click HERE...

Right clavicle, maybe.

Reported? To Whom?

You would think if there was some sort of secret police to report right wing bloggers to then me, you, DK and Guido would all be in Gitmo by now.

This has merely reinforced my opinion as to the intelligence of some socialists

Well if that's the general standard of questioning it does leave me a trifle depressed - if not surprised. Anyway, I'm impressed that you managed to answer with such courtesy and humour. I would probably have told a couple of them to sod off and think before asking such fatuous nonsense.

Probably explains why you are where you are, and I am where I am...

I though the Mellor, Portillo or Erikson question was the wrong way around. They should have asked which one you would keep if you needed one as ballast or something.

Equable you are. A virtue.
On Prescott I would have added his political vandalism as a reason for your hostile attacks. I think your contributions to anti Tory media are adding an extra dimension to political commentary. As for A list there will come one day a call to arms. Don't leave the phone off the hook.

Iaando,

You're not wasted doing this - not by a long chalk, but don't you have any ambition to take charge of something and shake it up. I don't mean be another MP. We all seem to have a lot of respect for the way you handled that. Give yourself a pat on the back while you're thinking it over.

Nice one Iain. Spending time on Labour blogs is at least as much fun as being on Tory blogs. Pick a subject about which you are much better informed than the blogger (not difficult), provoke them and then run rings around them. This should be a de rigueur activity for Tory blog-dwellers. I highly recommend it.

Mrs. T., Bismarck and Adenauer? Strange hero combo Iain. As Nick Ridley might have reminded you, Mrs T. would hate the latter two as statists, socialists and euro-federalists!!! Hope she does not read this blog.

Well, first, let me congratulate both you and Mike Ion for the exercise - too often, the political blogisphere is little more than an exercise in preaching to the perverted. Most of the questions were thoughtful and civil - even if I suspect a few were set-ups to get you to be really indiscreet - or even funny.

It's a shame a few of Mr Ion's readers didn't take this in the same spirit. And to paraphrase Woody Allen, don't knock being a tosser. At least it's sex with someone you love. :)

Let's face it, there are millions of voters out there who reckon all Tories are tossers or twats, even if Dave goes more Islington than he already has. There is no hope for people like this.

I always console myself that, when the Tories go completely haywire (stand up, John Major!), there are few safe Tory seats left in the country. This is because the electorate in these seats are capable of reason. Makes the party buck up.

But even if the Labour party is certifiable, you can put a red rosette on the regimental goat mascot and hundreds of Labour rotten boroughs will return the goat every time.

This is why there are fools in the street who will answer Yes to a non-attributable policy choice, and then say No if you tell them it's a Tory one.

One or two of Mr Ion's skeleton readership illustrate the point.

I reckon you did fine and when the A List has been consigned to the dump we can all look forward to you getting a gig somewhere.

They won't have you back Iain! You made fools of the silly ones- i.e. most of them.

The main reason why I believe this is such a succesfull blog, is the same reason why anything is succesfull. It is the consistant HARD WORK that you Iain puts in every day.

One point however. I advise you not to have a go at people who make spelling mistakes. Firstly because it puts of ordinary people from contributing, like myself that unfortuately have a crap state education. But also because you yourself Iain make as many spelling mistakes as even I do, and you went to university.

And I advise people who want to call others morons, in the most obscene and vulgar manner your pin-head brain can muster, to not display your own ignorance like Jordan's boobs.

By the way, I can never understand (presumably straight) homophobes who think vulgar terms for female genitalia are the worse insults imaginable. Talk about mixed messages - or is all the heavy breathing about "Tory gay boys" a hint that someone screwed up closet case would like some quality time alone with Alan Duncan?

Great stuff (though the "why Toryism?" question was a bit fuzzy). Your cool putdowns on several of the later answers cracked me right up -- especially to the 'Dichead' and 'best gay shag' inquiries.

Nice one!

and you went to university.

Believe me, that's hardly worth anything these days.

So long as you can put a cross where they want you to sign your name, you're in. Oh, and you can pay the shysters several grand for piss-poor tuition and resources.

As for the article, it made for an interesting read. I was shocked that our opposition blog counterparts have a seemingly representative faction of contributors who are incredibly ignorant in their rash comments. I know we have contributors who are equally rash, but they somehow still manage to put their point across in a way that can be read properly and without being too offensive.

It's sad that we still have bigots in this country who are committed to stirring a 'class war'. Personally, I put them in the same category as racists, as they are nothing more, nothing less. It's probably telling that they resort to ad hominem comments instead of making any real points.

I see we are both agreed on Hilary Benn then! :)
As for rude socialists, I actually agree with Boris Johnson, there are unpleasant and nasty people in every political party

Iain, can you tell me who right winger's get reported to? Can I expect the thought police to turn up and arrest me for 'beliefs contrary to the common good'?
