It's Entrepreneurs Who Create a Successful Economy - Not Gordon Brown

So Labour has launched its local election campaign with a show of unity between Tony & Gordon. I wonder why they refused to answer any questions fro, journalists. Have you EVER heard of a press conference without any questions?! The journalists present ought to refuse to write a single word about it. I really had to laugh when Blair introduced Brown. He said: "We have the best economic record of any country in the world and it's down to him". The first assertion is plainly idiotic, when our productivity is plummeting, but to say that economic success is ALL down to the Chancellor shows just how much Blair knows about how the economy works. I'm happy to pay tribute to Brown for making the Bank of England independent, but it is business entrepreneurs who create a vibrant economy, not politicians. Brown has done many many things to hinder business success, most particularly in encouraging new regulation. But as only four Labour MPs out of 370 have ever run a business, I do not find it surprising that they don't understand it.

A press conference without questions is a bit like a blog without a comment facility (yes, that's you, Pollard!)

Or indeed, the Darbyshires...

that's a frightening statistic 4/370....

Not sure that the 4/370 statistic is really that scary. Does running a business really prepare you to regulate business or run an economy? Anymore than a previous career as a farmer would make you a better civil servant at DEFRA?

Yes john miles, a person who has run a business has more relevant experience to assist him or her to understand how to better regulate/de-regulate a business or manage an economy.

Don't know.. suppose it wasn't a press conference, but Cameron was extremely bum-squeaky over Crick's questions. Where did the 4 out of 370 come from? Still, as the electorate know so well, at least they can run the country!!!

Actually I personally know more than 4 Labour MPs who have run a business so I can only assume that was either made up or helpfully cribbed from a CCO briefing book.

Also, Michael Howard did a raft of media events during and in the run up to the general election where he answered not one question. Did you demand the press didn't cover those too?

Anonymous, name them then. And as to your last point, it's ridiculous. Michael Howard never did a manifesto or campaign launch without answering questions. We all know why they didn't and so do you.

So if the economy takes a nosedive you will blame inept entrepreneurs for taking their eyes off the ball, not the Labour government. Am I right?

Still probably more representative of the country as a whole than the number of black or asian Tory MPs.

No Thanks, Bob Piper.

A person doesn't have to be Black or Asian to represent me.
Especially if they're thick like Dawn Butler or David Lammy.

I'll take one Afriyie over a hundred Lammys any day.
