Due to complaints that is it me who is being silent today, rather than Gordon Brown, I thought I'd better write something, albeit briefly.
This is a pantomime. No one really expects Blair to say anything this afternoon which will satisfy Gordon Brown. It's not remotely possible. So all we get is a lame duck Prime Minister being forced into a corner like a rat. And when rats are forced into a corner they tend to go for the throat. Prepare for some drama.
I'm having my own little day of drama today. I'm spending the day on a casting couch. Why? Well, you'll be finding out soon enough (he says coyly)!

I couldn't agree more - Bliar is determined to destroy what he built, which is his REAL legacy ( forget all the other disasters, THIS IS IT)
but what does a duck when it is forced into a corner? Or have I got got the wrong end of that metaphor?
Iain - just ensure you keep your legs firmly crossed at all times!
Tony and Gordon? I thought they got on rather well...

A day on the casting couch eh!
Does this mean that we are going to be treated to you in the staring role of Blair the Musical?
or maybe that all time classic, A blog too far?
Is Tony with you auditioning for the lead in Dirty Dancing?
Drama?
It's more like BB - petulant prima-donnas with over-inflated egos.
Don't they realise that we hate both of them?
The casting-couch.
As seducer or seducee?
I think we should be told.
Joking aside Blair is not a mentally well man, he never was, and therefore he will not be quitting, however, whatever happens today he will be gone by Christmas and then we can all sit back, and enjoy seeing the penny drop with all those knobs who didn't realise that Gordon has been running the country for the last 9 years and how we have him to thank for all the forthcoming disasters that will soon blow up on his watch.
It just nauseates me to think that the Psychopathic dirtbag Blair is guaranteed a very comfortable retirement when in fact he should be on the end of a rope.
a lame duck forced in to a corner like a rat who then goes for the throat.
A few mixed metaphors there..!
Perhaps some words of Browning might be appropriate in his poem on The Lost Leader in which he wrote
"let him never come to us!
There would be doubt, hessitation and pain.
Forced praise on our part - the glimmer of twilight,
Never glad confident morning again!
It is in Bliars power to sack Brown as chancellor, he has sacked other cabinet Ministers, why not Brown, that would surely count as going for the throat. His other option would be to run up a trouser leg.
a duck in a corner goes quackers... rather like the PM shows every sign of doing
While Blair was an apalling and deceitful prime minister, what makes anyone thing the Brown will be better and why the rush to dump Blair? NuLab is insane if they believe that Brown is electorally more attractive than Blair. I prophercy that I an the electorate will end up hating the dull man from Kirkaldy more that Blair.
Last night I saw a programme about the Lost Empire of the Hittites. After their great victory at Kadesh they fell into infighting that eventally destroyed them.
The programme speculated that they set fire to their fortress capital before evacuating it. I couldn't help thinking of New Labour.
Will Blair torch No 10 (or No 11)as he flees the country. The queen will then have to formally dismiss him to enable a new Government to be formed.
A duck forced into a corner generally craps on the floor.
Whether that'd be enough to stop Gordon wanting to move into Number Ten is another matter.
Peter Hitchens, that was a hilarious tirade, one of the best!
The feelgood factor is here, lets enjoy it, Blair is done for, kaputten.
Oh joy! NuLabour next, it has all ended in tears. Hallehluja!
Actually I am going to sack that bastard Brown this afternoon, resign and then hand over the keys to No 10 to my good friend and deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, who will run the country for the next 3 years or so.
After delivering three huge GE victories, the undue haste with which his colleagues appear intent on ditching Blair appears extraordinary, especially as he has already conceded that he will be gone within a year.
It's almost as if they (his fellow MPs) know something we don't - but I guess if this were so it would be out there in the blogosphere.

Dear Harry
Are you suggesting that Our Dear Leader is in fact one of the Squirrels who is trying to conquer the World before the Ducks can take over
oop norf said...
"A duck forced into a corner generally craps on the floor"
Clearly Oop North, we must bow to your infinite wisdom as regards the behaviour of cornered ducks.
Oh coe on, we are being told by our masters, the NuLayber party, that in the country no one is talking about this, and no one execpt a few loonies wants TB to go.
Note to MPs. TB did not win the election for you. You scraped through DESPITE TB.
Whilst I dislike UKIP I came across this on youtube and have to say, it is a pity that journalists and other Labour MP's dont take him on like this over every day issues.

Just seen our friend Mr Robinson reporting from outside the school in North London where Blair is due to speak. He mentioned that a group of children were being organised to shout "Blair out! Out now!".
Whilst I applaud the general sentiment (if one eschews narrow party political considerations!), it would be interesting to know who was doing the 'organising', whether or not the children were volunteers, and (if they were from the school) what their Head thought about it.
All this talk of ducks, rats and squirrels is very confusing. I've only just received my owl magnets!
Man, wouldn't it totally mad if Blair come out in front of the cameras and sacked Gordon Brown live on tv!?!:D
Yes.....but what difference will it make when Blair goes and Brown takes over? Sod all really. More of the same. This is just about Brown getting his own way after ten years of bitching and complaining. The man is a scum bag!
more interesting in what brown didn't say. Nothing on the resignations. Nothing criticising those briefing. etc
What is going on at that press conference? Being sat at work is excuciating with no tv!
Have just received a text from a friend who is a teacher at the school he is giving the conference from who says the press there think he will resign, wishful thinking I suspect!
Peter Hitchens - Yes, he is insane. That has been seriously evident for nine years and it has always surprised me that it's been commented on so little.
I believe he is also a criminal, although I believe he wouldn't recognise himself as such - so divorced from reality is he. I think he at the fat, coarse greedy one will scarper, one step ahead of Yates of the Yard.
So, no change there then? Yawn.

Nick Robinson is saying on BBC News 24 that Tony and Gordon (via a change in their friends stories) have agreed that Tony Blair "May go before May" - I hope he was quoting them correctly.
javelin -
Would that be Teresa May?
Didn't realise she was thinking of retiring.
"At least I've got one friend alongside me". It's Postman Pat for Number 11. He brings his own cat.
Has he resigned yet?
Perhaps Tony should fire Gordon and put one of his people in place: something he should have done years ago!
Casting couch. Hmmmn.
TV slot, fame and fortune. Good luck and adios.
