18DoughtyStreet Talk TV Channel Trailer
Visit the 18DoughtyStreet Blog HERE. Thanks for all the comments on the thread below. I'll be replying to them later. Hope you enjoy this trailer. And for all of those who seem to think the channel is going to be biased towards one particular political party, watch out for our two female co-presenters - neither of whom is a Conservative!

Sounds like James Whale and John Gaunt/Talksport all over again.
Good luck but I doubt Robinson or Paxman are quaking in their loafers.
Has Mr Morton been rehoused?
Tory men being taking down a peg or two by a woman (or two). Having seen much of that since 1990. ;-)
I hope your right Iain as long as it is balanced this project will have a future.
Anonymous 311John Gaunt? I think not! We're not intending to make Robinson or Paxman quake. We'll be doing something very different.
Anonymous 3.21. He sold the building to us.
Stephen, balance is such a subjective term. We'll be covering all ranges of opinion and having guests and presenters of all political perspectives. So in that sense it will be balanced. But because it's opinionated, I;m not sure how you measure balance!
Iain - are you going to comment on the fact that you're party's tax commission is going to announce £20bn of cuts to public spending?
Dodgy use of statistics in opening VO: "Approximately 60m people live in Britain but only 26m of them vote." 17m of the 60m are under 18!
That said, sincere best wishes, I look forward to it.
Oh god. I’m sorry Iain but that was really crap! The project looks very interesting (my slight misgivings aside) but that was a really naff and cringe worthy promo for it. It came across like a mix between a 6th media project and someone’s dad trying to look cool and hip…
Chris Morris (Day Today/Brass Eye) would have a field day with it.
It looks very London-centric to me. Hardly any white men. Everyone's a woman or a black man. Funny that. Also, the two women presenters have irritating accents. I will be bookmarking this as something to definitely miss.
Nice idea. Not sure about the title fo5r marketing purposes, trailer a bit more amateur thqan neccessary. And really including kids in the non-voting totals!
Nice Totty though.
All good wishes for your success, but please dump this trailer which tries to cover so many bases it communicates none.
Make just one promise about what the Channel will deliver, and make it clearly ( and please elbow the quick cutting and effects, which just get in the way )
Good luck.
I have never seen an advert that looked more like a party political broadcast. True colours betrayed, all round.
Trailer is a bit rubbish really.
Both my dictionaries and my etymological dictionary tell me that the first choice for pronunciation of doughty is dowty. Not doty.
Verity, "Hardly any white men. Everyone's a woman or a black man. Funny that. Also, the two women presenters have irritating accents. I will be bookmarking this as something to definitely miss."
You mean in the same way as you weren't going to post on this blog anymore?
No white men? No, apart that is from the two presenters. Oh give me a break.
It seems like a real pity that you are doing something which is quite self-congratulatory and which has no funds so looks really shit, when you are doing so well with your blog. I wonder whether it is all going to your head, all these successful newspaper round-ups for News 24 etc.
There is also something that really irritates when you say that you know what the real punter is talking about. Bollocks you do. You are (though a good commentator) just another part of the Westminster commentariat and if you think that you are so down with the people that only you know what they want then you really are starting to let this thing go to your head.
Look not trying to knock you because what you do on this site is really great and is really amazing but you should waste your time on hiring assistants and taking this blog global instead of thinking you can do the telly thing. If that trailer is anything to go by you are not exploiting your best asset I am afraid.
Keep blogging, forget the ego Iain...
Iain - Yes, I did say I wasn't going to post here again, but two things militated against my decision to desert. The other fella left instead. And people, both on the blog and by email, asked me to reconsider.
London has a different population make-up from the rest of the UK. This is why the BBC thinks it's being "representative" when actually, it is representative only of the ethnic make-up of London. My point is, this trailer did not speak to the country. It was speaking to London.
Over the country, Britain's ethnic make-up is around eight percent. In London it is something like 33 per cent. Thus, it is not representative of anything but London.
Those two women presenters have whining London accents, which is like fingernails down a blackboard. London again.
Anonymous 6:26 made some pertinent points, not least your power as the owner of an influential, well-written, witty blog that commands a huge audience.
I think his suggestion that you take this blog international is a very clever idea. Why not take it to the United States, as well as Britain? The blog is a huge success and has a strong personality all of its own. I agree that it would appeal to conservative Americans as well, although you'd need an American correspondent. (Just think, Iain, talk shows in the US!)
I think it's a boss idea.
Meanwhile, the mispronunciation of doughty is very irritating.
All that said, I certainly wish you great success with any project you choose to undertake.
no offence but that is one of the most tacky, downmarket peices of media i have ever seen. The only person who looks as if they can do a good peice to camera is the blonde lady. Does tim have any facial expressions?
I love this blog and conhome but this tv station looks very naff. Hope you havnt invested your own money iain!
Anomymous 6.26. Oh dear, where do I start? Why is that when you stick your head above the parapet the 'ego' accusation is always trotted out. Water off a duck's back.
You say it is "quite self-congratulatory and which has no funds so looks really shit"
How do you know it has no funds? Do you really think we're that stupid? So you really think I would put my reputation on the line for something which was going to look shit. Er, smell the coffee.
One thing I will never do on this blog is subcontract it to "assistants". It just wouldn't work. Blogs need personality, and I'm not going to dilute this blog just because i have a new job. Part of the attraction of doing this channel is that it ties in with what I do here.
Whatever trailer we had done people would either love or hate it. It's the fact we have done it at all, which is important.
In any event, I wish you well with this project as you have so much confidence in it.
But it is going to dilute your blogging time even further!!
Verity, no it isn't. I have been working on the TV project more or less full time for a month now. Have you noticed a difference in that time?
Sorry Iain - Just dont buy it. Much as you and Montgomery are nice blokes, having seen you on telly, your blogging skills are where you should be conccentrating your efforts. Concentrate on what you are good at, Telly aint it I am afraid. You obviously think differently but I am trying to give you some good advice. That is why I think the ego thing is coming into play. We have all got one and despite your overt efforts of being self-depricating and being modest which is to be admired your friend Guido is much more clued up when it comes to being honest. Arrogant yes, but in keeping it on the blog and anonymous he can stop the glory from going to his head.
I dont know whether you can.
PS Water off a ducks back? It is not meant to hurt you, it is merely my opinion of what you are doing and where you are going...
