Darren Clarke's wife died of cancer several weeks ago. No one knew for sure if he would be able to play in the Ryder Cup. He did. Three games, three points. He played a major part in an historic third victory in a row. His wife Heather would be proud. What a great day three days of golf we've had. Some of the shots and puts today were simply unbelievable.

Darren Clarke, We Salute You
Darren Clarke's wife died of cancer several weeks ago. No one knew for sure if he would be able to play in the Ryder Cup. He did. Three games, three points. He played a major part in an historic third victory in a row. His wife Heather would be proud. What a great day three days of golf we've had. Some of the shots and puts today were simply unbelievable.

I agree - A great sporting weekend Icing omn the case was the beloved Manchester City beating er....... Tevez? Mascherano? I'm put in mind of something about Greeks bearing gifts.
The one time I quite like to cheer on all things European! I believe my father who coaches golf at a school in Florida may be having some fun on Monday!
Absolutely Jonathan.Fantastic 3 days of wonderful golf.It does feel a bit odd though to be screaming for a team with the EU motif on their caps. I definitely won't be doing that again for at least two years.
Maybe it's time to even thing up a bit and have the Ryder cup as Europe v Rest of the World. It would be nice to see a foursome with Tiger Woods and some Iranian playing against Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood.
Goodness knows how he managed to pull off 3 brilliant points for the European team with all that he has been through.
I never usually contribute votes towards the Sports Personality of the Year awards (the buggers get enough out of me through the licence fee!) but this year I will definately break a habit of a lifetime.

Maybe Tony Blair and George Bush should be allowed to captain the next Ryder Cup teams. That way, we'd get to see George being Tony's bitch for a change.
Heroes. Two holes-in-one, Monty being his usual Ryder Cup legend self, and every European player scoring at least one point. My only regret is that I was in a plane flying back from Prague at the point we won..!
Top Man, and should be top of the queue for a nomination for Sportsman of the Year...before the over-paid premadonnas of west Ham...at keast Darren actually came through adversity . ô¿ô
He did play well, but he was not unique in his brilliance. Sergio was good, as was Monty and Luke Donald.
However, while sad the death of Darren Clarke's wife is - this talk of him coming back to play as great courage is nonsense in my opinion. That is not a sign of courage.
Also, it's interesting how the Americans played. Tiger was below standard, as were the majority of the US team. Why? Well, it's because they are a team of individuals. The Europeans played as a team; for one another. People like Phil Mickelson are selfish. They play for themselves and no-one else.
The individual Americans lost to probably the best European Ryder cup team in years. Well done them.
Sorry, but I can't share your unalloyed joy at the sight of all that piss-stained blue rag waving.
Seeing as the Yanks seem incapable of playing just for fun I propose that in future things are evened up a little.
Either go back to the original format (and see a British win every century or so) or have the Anglosphere versus a EU/UN combined team ( which is pretty much the world works at the moment).
O'Che's Irish-Cuban themed bar in Prague was a great place to watch the clinching moments. I'd like to give a mention to Paul Casey, surely the European player of the tournament. His hole-in-one was an unforgettable moment.
