I wouldn't especially like to be the CV of Tom Harris in a few months time. Sacked from a job in the cabinet, sacked from a committee... quite possibly soon to be sacked as an MP by the voters. That's not going to look good in anyone's book.

Very Speaker-heavy, but it's the big news of the day. Trouble is, if the Tories only move to replace him after the election, it should be a Tory replacement, which would seem as partisan as Martin's own appointment was. Who should be the next speaker? Surely this would be a good role for Ming Campbell.
